20+ wins would be nice. They haven't done it in 13 years.

Post needs to avoid stupid fouls

Gritty not pretty only takes you so far. Poor shooting has derailed them the last couple of years.

I really wish BC was back in the Big East for Basketball. That's where they belong, along with Syracuse. It's a better match geographically, and with the exception of UConn they are on a similar level with the other schools competitively. Of course football prevents that from ever happening. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle for a year or two every couple of decades, but short of that I fear they are doomed to an eternity of mediocrity in the ACC.

Basketball-wise, I think that BC has better shot at competing in the ACC than the Big East. Big East have really good basketball-first programs that have been consistently good...in addition to UConn, you have Nova, PC, Marquette, and Creighton, all of whom probably have better programs. Butler and Xavier consistently have pretty solid teams within any given 4-year period. Then, this season, you have St Johns with pretty decent team (probably at same level if not better than BC). And, if Cooley can turn things around, you have Georgetown that could be in the mix.

Outside of Duke and UNC, there's not really a basketball school/program in the ACC that I can't see BC at least matching with the right recruiting.

That all being said, as someone who grew up with Big East basketball in the '80s and '90s, and who is also a UConn fan and BC grad, I would love to have the old Big East teams including BC back in Big East for basketball.

It’s not only football. Makes also more sense for BC to be in the ACC for (women’s) lacrosse, baseball, field hockey and arguably soccer. The best want to play against the best.

I was talking strictly Basketball. Other sports are a different case.

I'm an '86 grad, so this is where I'm at. There was nothing like the Big East games against Syracuse, St John's, Georgetown, 'Nova, PC, Seton Hall, UConn.
They don't have the rivalries in the ACC. Even the ACC games against Syracuse don't have the same feel anymore, but maybe it's just me. Who is their biggest rival in the ACC?

Right but there's less than zerochance BC can be basketball in Big East but ACC in everything else.

It;'s not solely football driving the bus, as what your post seemed to say.

But it is football that is driving the bus.

Evidence: Every school that has moved conferences in the last 20 years (including BC).

No, it's all the sports. They have about 700 D1 student athletes for an undergrad enrollment of about 9500. Other than the Ivies and Stanford, there aren't many D1 schools with this high a ratio. Athletics is very important to BC. It's not just football.

Football drives the decision making because the money it makes funds all those other sports that nobody cares about (royal nobody, yes I know some people do).

Other sports definitely benefitted, but the internal meetings at BC in 2005 didn't start with "We need to move to the ACC so Baseball and Women's Lax will have better competition".
So to use your analogy, there are definitely other teams on the bus, but Football is definitely driving.

I totally get it, my wish is not based on reality. They can't be in the ACC and expect to be somewhere else in one major sport. Only Notre Dame football can get away with that, but don't get me started on that subject.

I played on the BC golf team in '85 and '86. Ed Carroll was the golf coach AND the associate athletic director. I can tell you first hand that he was WAY, WAY, WAY more interested in what was going on with the footbal team than he was with the golf team. He didn't even go to most of our matches. Obviously things have changed a lot since then, and thankfully they've had some real golf coaches since he retired, but given that sports like golf generate zero income I think its safe to say Football is still the main focus at the top end of the Athletic Department.

But I digress. Looking forward to the old school BC - PC basketball game tomorrow night. Even though it's a NIT game that nobody else cares about, I'd say that game still has some juice in New England. Plus as I mentioned last week, 20+ wins is so much better than 19.

I agree that a move of BC (or Syracuse or Pitt) basketball to the Big East will never happen. However, I think that it would be a good idea if those 3 schools would commit to an annual matchup with one or more of the traditional Big East teams (like BC v StJ this season). They could even market it as a "Reunion Series" or something before conference play where there's a weekend series of games (Brooklyn is a good venue) between BC/SU/Pitt and UConn/Nova/PC/StJ/GTown. They can rotate teams involved every season. I think it would have some pretty good ratings/attendance, especially in the Northeast.

Just switch the ACC/Big 10 and Big East/Big 12 "challenges" to ACC/Big East and Big 10/12....that'd do it. And there'd probably be more interest in those events if they swapped.

Zackery in the portal. With Post and Zackery gone next year could be a big step backwards unless Grant can work the portal in the other direction.

Now I'm hearing Harris and Aligbe in the portal along with Zackery. Do these guys not want to play for Grant, or are they not getting paid enough?
Very discouraging to see we are likely starting from scratch yet again

Likely the latter. BC’s NIL game is very weak. It’s a miracle they kept Post.

Post is not a US citizen, right? Not eligible for NIL. Which is a rule that should be changed, but probably the reason he stayed because he couldn't capitalize elsewhere.

As I understand it there was a workaround in place and he got paid.
