Sow should be replacing Strange. Strange is a turnstile. No doubt the Pats will draft a 2nd- or 3rd-round tackle project. Is there any chance they try Onwenu or Okorafor at LT?
Right now, I see the line as:
(LT), Strange, Andrews, Sow, Onwenu.
Wait for @Cellar-Door to come and shit in the punch bowl. Not sure how a Pats fan could be unhappy with this. Team has plenty of money and lots of needs. Losing him and creating another hole to fill would have been a disaster.
I already commented, think it's a reasonable deal based on guarantees, guard market has been hotter than I expected, multi year deal with under 40M in guarantee is pretty good.Wait for @Cellar-Door to come and shit in the punch bowl.
Strange was hurt all year after injuring his knee the opening of training camp. He tried to play through it until he went down for the season during the KC game. My guess is that he will be back and he and Sow will manage the 2 starting guard spots.Sow should be replacing Strange. Strange is a turnstile. We can absolutely find a starting tackle in round 2. Hell, Amegadjie and Rosengarten are probably still on the board at #68. PFN has 12 OTs in the top 100, and I like the guys that they have at 13 (#104 overall) and think that maybe 14 and 15 are playable starters, albeit not studs. But at #34, you're talking about Morgan, Suamataia, Paul--all starters. He's a RG in the new system. RT in a pinch. It's unlikely we find a LT in round 2. What's the OL going to look like? Strange and Sow duking it out at LG Andrews at C.
Give me Tyron Smith for 8 games.
I'm guessing anyone in round 2 isn't ready to start on the left side day 1 was the idea. And a lot more RT types than LT, but it'll do. I don't think any of Morgan (maybe a guard with his arms), Patrick Paul (raw), or Suamataia (talented but raw) is going to step in and play LT at NFL starter level... many of the best prospects (even ones who turn out well) aren't ready to play RT nevermind LT day 1, it takes time.We can absolutely find a starting tackle in round 2. edit: Happy about Mike also.
Maybe it's harder to do it now than it was, but guys like Matt Light start early with their 33.5" arms and pedestrian RAS scores. I'm not talking dominant guys. Just guys that aren't going to regularly get the QBs head taken off.I'm guessing anyone in round 2 isn't ready to start on the left side day 1 was the idea. Some guys do, some don't, but generally you can't count on a rookie to be ready, especially not the 9th or 10th guy off the board. RAS helps ceiling, but it's usually technique and coaching that keep guys off the field early.Maybe it's harder to do it now than it was, but guys like Matt Light start early with their 33.5" arms and pedestrian RAS scores. That makes a ton of sense, thanks. Some guys do, some don't, but generally you can't count on a rookie to be ready, especially not the 9th or 10th guy off the board. RAS helps ceiling, but it's usually technique and coaching that keep guys off the field early.
