Could be Miller, and if McQuaid is back to form, you can live with he/Bart/Krug as the bottom. If Seids isn't himself, though, it's going to be trouble.cshea said:Ugh.
I fear we will now be spending all season trying to find a top 4 D to replace Boychuk.
I don't think Miller is a top 4 guy, at least not yet. Last year he was sheltered and then overmatched badly against Montreal. Less reliable than a healthy McQuaid, IMO.Ed Hillel said:Could be Miller, and if McQuaid is back to form, you can live with he/Bart/Krug as the bottom. I may be biased, but with Boychuk, Leddy and Halak, the Isles are a playoff team. Huge offseason for Garth Snow, he waited out Boston and Chicago, and got both players.cshea said:The Isles are terrified of finishing in the bottom 2 and handing the Sabres McDavid or Eichel. Come hell or high water they'll do their best to finished 3rd to last.
Oh I agree, especially in the wastelands of the Metro division. But it seems like Snow and the Isles are a bit more urgent in shoving the chips in this year because of the loss of the draft pick next year.brienc said:I may be biased, but with Boychuk, Leddy and Halak, the Isles are a playoff team. Squandering that pick was definitely a factor, but the change in ownership, and upcoming move to Brooklyn are the bigger reasons why they are finally adding payroll. It seems like the days of Garth trading for cap hits to stay above the floor are over. Finally.cshea said:Oh I agree, especially in the wastelands of the Metro division. Come on man.ngruz25 said:He was the most consistent and reliable Bruins defenseman. I'm including Chara in that assessment. Hate to see him go, though I do understand that it had to happen.

Give Boychuk Chara's minutes and he'd be a mess. Boychuk is a solid defenseman, but I agree with EJ. Give the kids a shot and see what happens.
I would rather have seen McQuaid go, but they got a good return and good cap relief. I'm not all that torn up about this. I think they have enough in the pipeline to make this almost insignificant.
This, I can agree with.j44thor said:Chris Kelly better live up to at least 2/3 of his 3M cap hit this season. Perhaps Boychuk had to be traded even if Kelly wasn't here but it makes me a bit angry that he is taking up 3M for the next two seasons.
