The Bruins basically have next year, maybe the year after as their window. Not sure how well they match up against a younger team like Columbus.
So that probably means Pietrangelo definitely isn’t returning.Friedman says he’s hearing Krug going to St Louis. View: https://twitter.com/friedgehnic/status/1314721663171338242?s=21
What do we think is the Bruins' hypothetical pitch here? Krecji is up in a year, and they're not breaking up the top line, so how does Boston make this appealing to Hall? I'd have to think they're pitching this as "we're gonna play you and Charlie Coyle as David's wings, and you guys are going to be a modern day version of the Lucic-Krecji-Horton line we rode to a championship in 2011"? Three years is probably the window with this core barring a series of fortuitous outcomes (one of the goalie prospects emerging as a #1 and heir to Tuukka, Studnicka rapidly developing into a good Top 6 player, etc), and Hall isn't a guy I'd want to have to try and build around in the longterm future.Dreger on TSN talking about Hall. Doesn't really mention any teams but says they're doing their Zoom calls their day. They have a specific criteria they're looking for from teams. Some teams can't get on the list. More interested in fit, who he is going to play with, contender status, etc. Open to anything contract wise. He did say CBJ and NSH are two teams that would be able to throw a long term, big money deal at him.
Nope. Wonder where he goes.So that probably means Pietrangelo definitely isn’t returning.
That makes me question the Bruins reported offer.7 years $6.5 AAV. Same AAV as Bruins offered but STL gave him an extra year. View: https://twitter.com/pierrevlebrun/status/1314723228359720960?s=21
First thought I had as well. That makes me question the Bruins reported offer.
Just going off Sweeney’s comments I think they offered him the 6 x $6.5 during the season and they didn’t counter. So Sweeney moved on.LeBrun: Bruins didn’t make an offer to Krug today View: https://twitter.com/pierrevlebrun/status/1314725680471511042?s=21
Never say never. but I don't think so. He's a righty and they need help on the left side.Is there any chance we end up with Petro? Having him step into Chara's skates would be incredible.
Not signing tonight. Bs announcement pushed to tomorrow?Pietrangelo won’t be signing tonight. View: https://twitter.com/carlocolaiacovo/status/1314734412089774080?s=21
Be still @PedroSpecialKLast time we had a multi-hour delayed press conference on free agency day we ended up with Michael Ryder!
Not sure what it says about me but his turnover in the third against the Hawks in that 3OT game that Shaw scored off his shin pad still mildly annoys me. Not enough to be a net negative in the slightest or even close. Just irrational fandom me getting angry at an inexperienced rookie in the playoffs. The next in line for underappreciated stone-cold snipers shares Mr. Ryder's number - one T. Toffoli, who also happens to be a #73 UFA.
Thrilled for Krug. Similarly happy the Bruins won't have to worry about his age 30+ years. 7 regular seasons + the extra year as an impact playoff performer for the grand total of 0 draft picks and $28.55 in cap hit is exceptional ORI.
Oh it’s totally irrational. Just like my memory. No way any of that should be off the top of my head.I mean given his contribution v. the Rangers and the literal goose eggs put up by guys like Jagr, Seguin, and motherfucking unmitigated piece of human shit Kaspars Daugavins in that series, it's tough for me to ride Krug too hard there
Agree. I will always have fond memories of his breakout playoff performance as a rookie in 2013. He burst onto the scene with 4 goals and 5 points in the first round series against the Rangers. His energy in that series was electric.Súper happy for Krug he got his ticket. Sucks it’s with StL, but whatever.
He’s an undersized, sheltered 29 year old...glad the Bs passed.
Interestingly one of the two sticking points with Pietrangelo was apparently that they would not give him a NTC...suprised they gave one the Krug. Years 3-5 are going to hurt if he starts to lose a step.
I agree. Reminds me a bit of Pedroia. Hope Krug’s career has a better finish.Agree. I will always have fond memories of his breakout playoff performance as a rookie in 2013. He has a great offensive game and is really fun to watch on the power play.
A 7 year contract is too long though and I’m glad the Bruins aren’t signing him to that deal.
His agent needs an award for that contract. Good lordThe salary numbers at the end add some juice to the modified NTC. Can’t imagine someone will want to shell out $6M+ for a couple years for any mid-30s Dman, let alone an undersized one.
I like Smith and it’s a good contract, but I completely agree. They still need a second line winger and a big left handed defenseman. If Smith is it, this is a fail.
