Uh, who?
This was my exact reaction and I was embarrassed and figured I just wasn’t paying attention or something. Guess it’s not just me.I’ve literally never heard of this player.
This is my thought as well. He’s OK, LHD. My guess is this sets them up to trade Grzelyck or Krug for a right winger.
AAV seems fine, 5 year term seems extreme though.
If this sets up a Panarin trade I’m good with it.He’s OK, LHD. My guess is this sets them up to trade Grzelyck or Krug for a right winger.

Or a Kaarlson tradeIf this sets up a Panarin trade I’m good with it.
Otherwise
If they trade Krug and think John Moore will replace him, then I’m fucking lost. I really hope they don’t trade Krug unless they’re blown away with the return. He’s incredibly underrated around here. He’s OK, LHD. My guess is this sets them up to trade Grzelyck or Krug for a right winger.

If Sweeney trades for Karlsson I'll quit the Bruins. They have nothing to trade for him without giving up way too much and will have to take Bobby Ryan back. That will be a terrible trade.Or a Kaarlson trade
What am I missing? I haven't heard these rumors. If this sets up a Panarin trade I’m good with it.

Ottawa is talking EK/BR and EK only deals FWIW.If Sweeney trades for Karlsson I'll quit the Bruins. They have nothing to trade for him without giving up way too much and will have to take Bobby Ryan back. That will be a terrible trade.
He’s said he won’t sign an extension with Columbus and will go to FA, so people are assuming he’s available. What am I missing? I haven't heard these rumors.
I don't think they need him, we already have a better version of him on the team.
Who do you deal for him though? Ottawa is not accepting a deal around Krug and they want roster players. That trade would decimate the Bruins roster. No thanks.Ottawa is talking EK/BR and EK only deals FWIW.
Moore replaces Krug = MASSIVE DowngrageHe’s OK, LHD. My guess is this sets them up to trade Grzelyck or Krug for a right winger.

They wouldn’t trade Hoffman in the division I highly doubt they’d trade Karlsson here. I bet it’s Vegas for him.Ottawa is talking EK/BR and EK only deals FWIW.
I don't see Moore as a 9th floor guy. Gryz on the other hand would fit perfectly up there, and even has the right contract for a #7/8 defensemanMoore is not a 9th floor guy. Moore is a big, strong second-pairing defenseman who plays 20 minutes a game and puts shots on net. He’s 28 with seven years of NHL experience.
I agree with PSK that Moore’s signing likely means the Bruins will include Krug in a trade package for a RW. That’s a lot better of scoring to trade, but the Bruins must believe Carlo and Gryz have the potential to up their point totals.
Signing Wagner and Nordstrom for a total of $2.25 for 2018-2019 seems to me a reasonable gamble that one or both can be a productive bottom six forward. If both fail, at least Sweeney will have failed relatively cheaply.
At that price, think of Wagner and Nordstrom as competent NHL-level insurance if none of the kids at Providence impress management enough to make the roster. If JFK or Studnicka or Frederic show they’re ready, then the Bruins have the opportunity to shuffle starts among a low-salary bottom six group (Backes excepted).
Gryz was Boston’s top defenseman by Corsi and Fenwick last year. He was sheltered but no more so than Carlo. It’d be pretty rough to have him on the 9th floor after last year’s performance.I don't see Moore as a 9th floor guy. Gryz on the other hand would fit perfectly up there, and even has the right contract for a #7/8 defenseman
As they say in boxing, styles make fights. I'm not sure that it's possible to say that a single style works against all opponents. I thought Gryz and the transition game played well against Toronto, not so well against a more-physical TB squad, but YMMVGryz needs to play. I would rather play someone that skates fast to pucks makes smart clearing decisions than someone that lines up and hits bodies better but makes lousy clears (looking at you Miller and McQuaid). Transition and puck movement out of the zone is so important. It nearly killed this team versus Toronto and largely killed this team vs. Tampa Bay.
The reasons you site for Grz being appealing to other teams are exactly why I think he’s more valuable to the Bruins - a team friendly contract and control are a reason I really think he’s not likely to get moved either, at least not right now. Even if he doesn’t get any better than he already has shown (which is unlikely) an NHL D-man with that contract will ALWAYS be valuable to other teams and could be moved in a heartbeat at any time, and its low enough where even if he’s up on 9 half the time nobody is going to be too worried about that.Carlo and McAvoy won't be dealt because of their skill and <1M contracts. Chara and John Moore won't be traded. I think one, if not two of the above are gone in a deal to get a 2W. I could see how each contract could be desirable to someone. Krug as the skill. Grz for long term control. Miller for 2 years of good 2nd pair D, McQuaid for a 1 year term.
