The Oilers are outscoring teams 29-12 when McDavid is on the ice. They are getting outscored 20-18 when he's not on the ice.

They aren't as dreadful behind McDavid as they have been in the past but the formula for victory here is somehow breaking even with 97 on-ice and hoping to win when he's on the bench. This likely means someone outside of 63/37/88 has to score.

I'm looking forward to the game for exactly that match-up: can our 37/63/88 line do enough to play even with McDavid, and can the rest of the roster pop one more in.

Wouldn't be surprised if Butch broke up 63/37/88 for d-zone draws, when they have the long change, and late in the game if it's tight / B's have the lead - having Coyle up there for an added faceoff guy (and d-zone grit) is probably the best chance they have at containing McDavid/Draisaitl

Bs really need a 3rd or 4th line that's good enough defensively to shut down their 1st line, so you can focus your 1st line on scoring. Same tactic teams use in the playoffs against the Bs (plus holding and relying on the refs and Toronto to avert their eyes).

Also, the Bruins have had a beat the bad teams, lose to the good ones thing going on so far. Would be nice to notch a quality win.

The only complaint I have about the first minute is that they didn't score. The 4th line outplayed the McDavid line to start and then gave the Bergeron line a shift in the offensive zone.

Craig Smith is David Backes in his final year as a Bruin, but worse.
