Huh? He's been in the league forever.Breaking out.
Is there any precedent for a G-League player getting signed to a multiyear NBA contract without first proving his mettle in the Association on a shorter deal (10-day, rest of season, etc.)?
Stauskas.
The transactions log is a trip down memory lane. The pick and the pick swap SAC attached with Stauskas to clear cap space (in order to sign Rondo to a one-year deal!) became the (in)famous Tatum and Langford selections.
Happens a lot late in the year, because I would guess heavily that like a lot of guys this is a "2 year deal", which is really a rest of season deal with a non-guaranteed second year.Breaking out.

Ah, didn’t realize next year was non-guaranteed. That makes it look a lot more like your standard “G-league guy played well enough to earn an NBA roster spot” situation.Happens a lot late in the year, because I would guess heavily that like a lot of guys this is a "2 year deal", which is really a rest of season deal with a non-guaranteed second year.
Though also Stauskas is a long-time vet who seems to end up in the league for part of every season.
I heard they were calling it day to day.Guessing this means Nesmith injury serious?
Hypershotmisstomuchosis is very serious. It could well be a career ender if he doesnt get it fixed quickly.Guessing this means Nesmith injury serious?
Yeah, he just can’t get it going. His first shot last was a wide open corner 3 that missed the rim by a foot. It’s definitely psychological.Hypershotmisstomuchosis is very serious. It could well be a career ender if he doesnt get it fixed quickly.
I guess the upside on that air-ball is AN missed the side of the backboard and didn't move the basket stanchion.Yeah, he just can’t get it going. His first shot last was a wide open corner 3 that missed the rim by a foot. It’s definitely psychological.
His role will be to hit a few open 3 looks on kick outs. The ones Nesmith can’t.Loved Nik since he's a Michigan alum. He's a terrific shooter, but does have some slash to him. Not sure if he can play D at this level.
Much more importantly, his nickname is Sauce Castillo due to a closed captioning blunder, and it's terrific. Let's get Saucy y'all!
Absolutely. In a situation like this, the coaches need to help instill some confidence in him.Yeah, he just can’t get it going. His first shot last was a wide open corner 3 that missed the rim by a foot. It’s definitely psychological.
I coached a kid who every day would hit 19-20, 47-50, 25 in a row, etc from 3pt. I mean every day. When he missed two in a row working out guys worried about whether they were in the Matrix and reality was no longer real. The first game was an upset win and he went 3-5. He never hit his 10th in game 3. In practice scrims he shot well. He had green light until the end. Never had another good game. He is the most extreme case, but some gys just never get it going even at a slightly higher level. Brilliant guy, one of our best guys in terms of leadership, etc. But he never figured it out and just walked away.Absolutely. its really too bad that he got hurt because this would have been the perfect time for him for gain experience and comfortability
Honestly, as sad as it is to say, I think the hopes for Nesmith becoming any kind of contributor to the Celtics went up in smoke last night.I coached a kid who every day would hit 19-20, 47-50, 25 in a row, etc from 3pt. But I am sure Nesmith will be fine.
Just signing a bunch of shooters and hoping one sticks. Nothing else to do with the roster spots.Guessing this means Nesmith injury serious?
