And here is a silver lining if you were rooting for the underdog - this niners team looks like a group with a much better chance against KC
The team with the best chance to beat KC is first half Lions and second half Niners

Sure. No one knows how it’ll work. I just hate the “take the points” because there’s no guarantee they get points on a 47 yard kick.
You're acting like Badgley is some stiff who can't kick and could never kick and has never kicked.

His career long is 59 yards. He's 10-12 in his last 12 40+ yard kicks.

Feel bad for the Detroit players. They played well enough to win with the exception of Reynolds. Coaching ego destroyed them.

In re SF, on the one hand the Niners have been outplayed on the field in 2 straight games. On the other hand, you have to credit sticking to your script, not panicking, and not fucking yourself.

That said, they're going to get killed by the Chiefs.

Their kicker is 17-21 from 40-49 over the last two seasons and 4/6 from 50+. It's not Patterson anymore.

Those odds seem better than converting 4th down in those situations. And that's just putting aside the fact, the first one would have given them a 3 score lead and the 2nd was to tie the game.
That’s fine. They also had conversions on both 4ths if the WR didn’t botch the first one and Goff didn’t botch the second one. The plays were right there.

His point isn't that he would miss the kick or even probably miss the kick, just that it's not a guaranteed 3. From your own numbers, the expected return is 2.5 points.

Can't believe I said the Lions don't beat themselves.

Story of the day, and of these playoffs really - keep your cool, don't do dumb shit.

I just don’t get too worked up over the eternal kick/don’t kick debates. The Lions go for it a ton and they went for it. Shit happens.

I agree that he should’ve attempted the kick the last time but I don’t understand blasting him for the prior move. The play worked and his player didn’t execute. That’s not on him. He also kicked at the end of the half.

Maybe it's hard to stay patient with the running game when falling behind. But it's what they should have done.

No one celebrated the Falcons for being consistent. No one.
Sorry but I lost our thread. What did the falcons do that was consistent? When I watch that game once a month I see a team who was better just completely outplay the other. Or maybe you mean the falcons not being more conservative and running?

You can't cut to Ford Field when things are going well and then deny us the chance to see all the sad Lions fans.

That is what I mean. They were consistent with their mantra. Play aggressive.

I don't necessarily blame Campbell; it's how he coaches, and perhaps had he not coached this way all season, they don't finish 12-5 and have to open the playoffs on the road. Still, the reasons you cited are also a reason for kicking; players don't always execute on 100% of plays.

I’ll never understand why practically every NFL team is so eager to stop running at any point they start trailing. It’s unreal.
