They probably learned it from Crosby.Greg29fan said:
he was just faking like Orpik. It's part of the training manual with hitting people in the head.

Because it draws a penalty. Guys are doing that way too much nowadays, basically willfully putting themselves in danger.TheShynessClinic said:Why does Schenn turn when he sees impact coming? Stupid.
I am not a Shanny fan, but it's not personal. There's nothing in his resume that suggests he should be anything more than a consultant where discipline is concerned. That job should be held by someone who has, first and foremost, an appreciation and understanding for how rules of law work. In the decisions handed down from his office, it's hard to see a suggestion of a pattern. If I decided who lived and died, I would have long ago sent Willard upriver for him. But it's an institutional problem, and I'm sure he tries his best. He needs more of an ala carte style to his determinations. Some of the ugly hits this year, I don't even know how I feel. Shanahan has a TOUGH job.
Sorry, Kenney, but ngruz is right here. There's no way Schenn was turning to draw a penalty - he was turned away from Wilson and couldn't even see him coming.ngruz25 said:That's charging AND boarding. Schenn turned because that was his natural instinct - he sees Wilson, a big dude absolutely flying at him, for like a second before impact. Maybe that was his only hope of not getting destroyed. I think it's asinine to suggest that he was just trying to draw a penalty - guys don't have the time to think that through, and nobody wants to be paralyzed for a power play. People here seemed pretty upset when Don Cherry blamed Patrice Bergeron for the Randy Jones hit. With the speed Wilson had built up, and the distance Schenn was from the boards (regardless of whether Schenn turned into the hit, he was still a few feet from the boards and was going to be thrown into them), that hit was incredibly dangerous. If that's a two minute penalty, I'm a little scared for the sport. That hit was orders of magnitude more dangerous than Orpick's on Erickson (ignoring for a second Loui's concussion history), a hit which had many here up in arms. What happened to the old "intent to injure" rule?
