This astonishes me. Isn't Klapisch an established reporter? I wonder if Twitter is turning good writers into hacks with all the "I'm told"s."I’m told the incident involving Domingo German and his girlfriend occurred late Monday night/Tuesday morning in a public setting - he allegedly slapped her during an argument. According to an MLB source, the incident was witnessed by an official from the Commissioner’s office."

Good. Let him go home and get his act together. And let the Yankees get started on filling German’s postseason role in the bullpen.Buster Olney just now, no surprise:
“Domingo German’s case is not fully resolved administratively, but he will not pitch in an MLB game again this year, regular season or postseason."
They talk about it in the article, no one knows but he got paid for those games in September, so that would have to factor in.Does he get time served?
Was there anything previously reported?Must have been worse than previously reported.
Well, I saw it reported it was worse that Familia but not as bad as Osuna so the suspension would have landed in the middle. Was there anything previously reported?
Or, after Taubman’s dumb comments, MLB is taking domestic violence more seriously.Well, the standard assumption seemed to be he was only going to get a month. Considering he just got one of the longest bans on record, it must have been pretty bad.
Hey! We use the 40 man roster for such statistics.Or, after Taubman’s dumb comments, MLB is taking domestic violence more seriously.
I won’t question other people’s codes and I’m not sure what I’d do in that position, but I’m glad I don’t have to root for a team where 8% of the roster is comprised of domestic abusers.
I did, then rounded up. Fractions I can kinda do.Or at least a 26 man roster
What's puzzling is it would appear to me the Yankees are horrible at the PR game in regards to the handling of a domestic violence situation.Germán was expected to address reporters on Sunday but instead released this statement through a Yankees spokesperson:
“It is important to me that I have the opportunity to speak directly with my teammates, both individually and collectively, and address them face to face before I speak to the media, and our fans.
“This process has begun, but more time is needed. Especially since half our team has yet to report to spring training.
“I recognize that speaking publicly will be an important step for me. And I will do so in the upcoming days.”
On Wednesday, the day pitchers and catchers reported to Tampa, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he did not plan to have Germán address his teammates as a group. Britton spoke with local media on Thursday. On Friday, Boone said that Britton’s comments had made him give it more thought.
“I would say it’s, I guess, put a little strength in my antenna, as far as something that I’m looking at more closely,” Boone said. “Now, I’m not ready to say that Domingo needs to go and address the team, I don’t think that at this point is something that I want to make somebody do. I think that needs to be something that comes from within and is authentic.
“But it is something that I’m looking at, and trying to pay attention to, as best I can, because obviously, we’re dealing with a serious issue. And we’re dealing with a person’s life and livelihood and we want to be a part of helping that situation and paying attention to what our group and our players are feeling is important. So it’s certainly something that I’m paying close attention to, we are paying close attention to, but not ready to have him address the team coming as a directive for me.”
It's not about releasing German. That ship sailed the day he remained a Yankee after the facts became known. And no, I do not think it's an impossible situation. It's about managing the message, and providing mentorship to German. I'm talking about how on earth they could've been blindsided by Zach Britton's comments? What, did they even bother to poll the players? No one is good at that, it's an impossible situation. You can release the player, but many argue that will make it harder for future victims (of other players) to come forward.
German plans to address the team privately, but because of Covid, he is going to need to do that multiple times in smaller groups, and then he will make a public statement. It probably all should have been handled a while back since this happened something like 17 months ago at this point, but he was never actually with the team in 2020.
This is the best explanation so far. Nothing was normal last year. German is on a very short leash right now.No one is good at that, it's an impossible situation. You can release the player, but many argue that will make it harder for future victims (of other players) to come forward.

It is not quite worth banning, but it is the same kind of thing I warned you about already. Basically every other place where the Yankees are discussed on the web, the posters take a few tiny tidbits via Twitter or whatever and then riff on them like condescending know-it-all experts, whether or not the details of the tweets even turn out to be accurate. We don't do that here but there are plenty of other places to do that if that's what you want to do.(none of this is ban-worthy, btw).
