I love the hockey coverage on NBCSN but it is really lame that they've used all local broadcasts (with NBCSN graphics) for the playoffs, other than the games they give Doc.
There are five non local crews headed by
Doc Emrick
Chris Cuthbert
Kenny Albert
Gord Miller
John Forslund
The color guys I've heard are Pierre, Edzo, Bret Hedican, Ray Ferraro, and Brian Boucher
But if there's a Comcast Sports Network crew doing the game (Philly, Chicago, San Jose, Washington) or the game is on NHL Network, you get the homer locals.
It's always so easier watching a game when you don't care that much who wins. I would like to see the Caps lose b/c eff them but I'm no Flyer fan. But when you're not hanging on every shot and rush up and down the ice, you can just appreciate the game.

If the Flyers can win game 6, I can just imagine how tight the Caps are going to be for game 7.
I fully expect a game 7 and an unfortunate Caps loss where they go down early in the first and never recover. Their sticks will turn to sawdust in their hands........

So yeah the Rags have been exposed as the complete frauds they were all season. Awful puck possession and ridiculously high shooting percentage will eventually get to you.
Not all season, but definitely the 2nd half of the season. But they aren't frauds, that is an unfair statement. They are a decent hockey team who needs stellar goaltending to have a chance in their games. And they are facing a red hot Pittsburgh team firing on all cylinders. They obviously haven't gotten the goaltending and, thus, they are getting humiliated.
But heading into the playoffs, nobody was talking the Rangers winning the cup, unlike 2014 and 2015. This result isn't surprising at all. Pitt were very big favorites heading into this series.
Their defense is a mess. McDonogh and Girardi have severely regressed and are on big deals. Can they re-sign Yandle? Forward wise, Nash disappears for stretches and Kreider hasn't really lived up to the hype. Their minor league system is screwed as this will be the 4th year in a row with no first round pick. No 2nd round pick this year either.

McD is Mr. Glass and Girardi hasn't regressed, he's fallen completely off a cliff. There are a lot of problems for this team now. No farm, no draft picks, a ton of high salary guys who cannot be moved. The options are limited and the window is closing.
Not to mention that Lundquist is now in his decline and will be counting 8.5M against the cap for another four seasons.

Two horrible penalty calls in a row. That was his own teammate with the high stick and that was not a hook.
Unbelievable deal for the Lightning to have faced Detroit, a very poor team, and either Florida or the Isles while Wash and Pitt beat the hell out of each other.
They will go away and not come back unless and until the Caps go up 2 games in the series. If they go up 3-1 then drop a game, they will be back with a vengeance.
