With the caveat that NHL would probably fuck it up, high sticking (and delay of game) should be reviewable.

The Caps are playing better than the Bruins did but damn it would have been nice to get some of those bounces and bad goals from Vasilevskiy.

Have to give Washington a ton of credit, they did what the Bruins could not do, ie, win game one, then come back and take game two as well. Hard to fathom this team started the playoffs down 0-2 heading to Columbus, now they are two wins away from the SC finals.

Tampa took two in Boston, so they are capable of doing the same vs Washington and with their history of epic playoff meltdowns, this series is far from over, but basically they need to win one of two games at home and go from there.

At even strength in this series, it's not even a contest so far.

Hockey is a funny game,

Caps better on the road than at home. Plus, they are well endowed with the can’t-handle-prosperity gene, which if not hatched in a lab in Cambridge, was brought to its full potency there in the early 1970s — and then released in greater Boston.

So we know the story. If they at least split at home, we can talk about flipping the calendar to 2004. Should this series somehow go back to Tampa 2-2, it’s same old, same old and let the congestive heart failure begin.

Don’t know how they didn’t score on the shift right after the 2-0 goal.

I’m on board the Vegas bandwagon.

I'm fairly convinced 5 of the best 6 teams in the league this year are in the East. (Nashville)
(TB, us, Wash, Pitt, Tor)

Agreed. The Thrashers are a really good, really deep team. To my eye, they have no glaring weaknesses. I really enjoy watching them, and Laine is an absolute monster.

That said (and I said this back in the game thread when the B's played them), I'm fairly certain I would hate them for a decade, like I do the Canucks, if the Bruins had ended up playing them in a 7 game series.

Haha no. That was an epic collection of douchebaggery - Burrows, Lapierre, Torres, Hanson, Glass, Kessler and Vigneault.

Part of me wants to be angry with how manufactured all of Vegas' pregame stuff is, but then I remember that that's all they've got. They have no "history of this team" montages. They have no "remember that time you all cheered in your childhood" moments. They have no history but what they're creating now.

I still think its way over the top, but whatever. It really seems like it was a fantastic choice to put a team and the NHL is benefiting because of it.

To be fair, it was cool that their anthem singer paused in the Canadian anthem for the Jets’ True North shout, same as he does in the SSB for the Night shout.

Quebec and Portland are better spots.

The entire expansion draft process was such a joke. Legalized blackmail.
How was it a joke? The Panthers ownership got $16.67 million that they didn't have to share with the players to let Vegas into their club. When they charge 6x more than they did when the last expansion team joined the league, they have to be relevant right away. The only joke is the gluttony of the owners.

The idiot GM’s who handed Vegas extra assets to “lay off” certain players are the culprit.

Florida for some dumb reason thought Reilly Smith was an albatross so they decided to attach Marchessault’s deal to Smith to shed the salary. 2/3 of one of the best lines in hockey handed over for free.

Columbus traded a 1st round pick to get Vegas to take William Karlsson and David Clarkson’s deal. Nobody saw the Wild Bill explosion coming, but here he is.

Minnesota couldn’t stomach losing someone like Marco Scandella or Jonas Brodin for nothing, so they panic and give Vegas Alex Tuch as incentive to take Eric Haula in the draft. Anaheim forked over Shea Theodore. The list goes on and on.

Teams over thought the process. Only had to lose 1 player. Some teams panicked over the thought of losing a decent-to-good player for nothing and as a result they ended up losing even more and setting up Vegas for the success they’re enjoying now and in the immediate future.
