He keeps diving all over the ice, it won't be just a few teams who think he's a flopper. In the last two games, he's put on multiple Oscar nominated performances.

Not to mention, he's got all the attributes to be a really admirable player. His comments in the wake of the hideous racist trash directed at him after Game 1 against the Bruins were fantastic and intelligent and showed that he's a guy I could really root for if he wasn't wearing that particular set of laundry. He seems like a good guy off the ice. Why pull this ridiculous bush-league bullshit on it?

He doesn't need to flop. He's too good a player to need to do that.

He'll be gone in a year anyway, won't he? Unless Montreal plans on paying him that 7/80 he wants.

He's an RFA after this season.  The RFA system sucks though, and at the contract value that Subban wants (>10M/yr) will cost the new team 4 1sts.  So Montreal will sign him to a 1 yr contract, and then he'll bolt after next year when he's no longer an RFA.

He held out in the lockout season, and after Monteal offers him the same amount they're paying him now and dares anyone else to offer sheet him, he'll hold out again next season.  Unless they break the bank after next season, he's bolting to whichever city pays him the $$$$.

The Islanders will be moving to Brooklyn next year at the cap floor. I could see them making a huge offer to Subban to create some buzz, and keep his buddy Tavares happy. That said, Montreal would be nuts to let PK walk.

The Vanek trade was for a 2014 or 2015 1st rounder, and they elected to keep this year's. Since they lack a 2015 pick, they'd have to trade for one to make an offer to Subban.

I was reading that as them (the Isles) signing him next summer if he takes a 1-year deal from the Habs and then hits UFA.

To be specific, a team needs to use its own picks. So in this hypothetical (where a player is an RFA in 2015), the Islanders would have to trade with Buffalo to get their own first rounder back in order to make an offer sheet of any reasonable monetary value.

Yup, and that's how Burke maneuvered to get Kessel in 2009. Once he traded to get the original first back, it was a fait accompli that Kessel was going there.

This is pretty much exactly my opinion. It's sad to watch a player as good as he is constantly flopping, punching guys in the back of the head, and just generally being a cheap and dirty player. The thing that makes it worse is that none of the hockey media calls him on it and just continuously sucks his dick about how awesome and charismatic he is without mentioning any of this

Subban's not going anywhere. Considering they have Price locked up to a very reasonable deal and the cap's probably going to hit $80 million before the end of the decade, he doesn't need to go. They may have to make some hard choices (I think Markov's gone, there's no chance his next deal will be worth the money considering his knees) but the fanbase would revolt if he left.

He means that they'd riot.

Because, like, it's probably Tuesday and stuff.

Exactly. It's highly unlikely Subban leaves Montreal, but I could see the Isles pouncing if they had chance to sign him as a UFA.

I know. I wanted to work in a joke about a city that riots when their hometown team takes 7 games to beat and 8 seed. Or when James Hetfield gets lit on fire. Or when it's Tuesday.

You're lost. The Lebron thread is in the Celtics forum.

Ha! Habs aren't getting anything for the neck throw back on high sticks now, even with legit high sticks. Cried wolf one too many times.

Corsi/Fenwick has to be like 95% for the Rangers so far. Yet 0-0.

I've seen this movie before. I didn't like the ending.

Yeah if I'm a Rangers fan, I worry that such domination in this period should lead to a lopsided score. Or any score.

Stand around and then have a shot from the point blocked. Uh, Rangers? There's a lot of things that are worth copying from the Bruins. The PP is not one of them.
