Lots of tea leaf reading now. But I'll play...with the boot coming off in two weeks, it's hard to imagine him pitching at the big league level in anything less than four weeks from now. And that's if all goes well.
This sucks on so many levels. Given what they have and don't have in the system starting pitcher wise, the huge uncertainties around Pomeranz and Wright, that this team is a legitimate contender and that the window is arguably small (with this mix of players) given the amount of players who will be up for new contracts in the next few years, it behooves DD to acquire another starter. Until this happened, I assumed that they could mix and match and that Dombrowski could use his limited trade chits to acquire bullpen help or, dare to dream, on a high end splash like Machado (lower level possibility but you never know). Now, Sale/Price/Pomeranz and stitch it together for two starts doesn't seem like a good plan.
What a predicament.
