I'm a huge fan of the tactical cam on Watch ESPN, but they desperately need a score and time graphic on there. Also, bicycle kick!!
And technically, God Save the Queen is the UK National Anthem, not the English one, so England could choose a different one (they don't currently have one). Obvious possibilities would be Land of Hope and Glory or Jerusalem.
Wait are you implying an FA is corrupt, incompetent and money hungry?I can only think that there must be a lot of behind the scenes pressure from the English FA on the manager to select the 'big-names' from the 'big clubs' because every new manager says they'll select based on form no matter what club they play for, but then every England manager then always ends up picking the same 'big names' from the same 'big clubs' regardless of form.
No, Yes, Yes.Wait are you implying an FA is corrupt, incompetent and money hungry?
Hey Jude has been the anthem for at least 20 years. And technically, God Save the Queen is the UK National Anthem, not the English one, so England could choose a different one (they don't currently have one). Obvious possibilities would be Land of Hope and Glory or Jerusalem.
Yeah, and Alli is a really strange player. Pochettino gets a ton of credit and it is deserved for finding a formation that works with his players. Alli is trying to take up the positions of a #10 but that isn't a position in a 4-3-3. Then you have Rooney who is far too willing to ping balls wide. I don't think he's been all that bad as a midfielder and he's actually working box to boxbetter than Alli I think but just because the wide option is available doesn't mean you have to take it. He's playing it safe and hitting a lot of early diagonals but England lack anyone who can take advantage of the space provided by an early diagonal. It's hurting more than it is helping IMO. Whether it is on the dribble or with a pass England need to find a way to beat a layer.Agree completely with this. People fixate on the wide players and the wingers but the team is really broken down the spine. They have two CBs who can't pass, a DM in Dier who is pretty good in his role but not a deep lying playmaker, two AMs in Rooney and Alli who can't really pass and have one assist and zero goals between them in open play in four games, and a CF in Kane who hasn't produced all tournament.
Exactly. The manager needs to say, I play this formation and will choose my team accordingly. If you happen to be one of the 'best' 10 players in England, but are second best at the positions I need, then you don't get in the team. Our best choice winger is a centre forward. Our best choice creative midfielder is a striker.
The balance is shit once again we are forcing player into roles instead of picking the best players at those positions. It's every time. As long as I can remember
I don't get that feeling at all.I'm getting an England v Cameroon (1990 World Cup QFs) vibe out of this game...late equalizer followed by the winner in extra time?
Of course Beligium has much better players. It works for Belgium (kind of).
Yeah. What's interesting is that when England beat Germany a month or two ago, England played 4-2-3-1 with Ali in the #10 just behind Kane. They played really well that day, so I wonder now why they chose to play 4-3-3? The only thing I can think of is to accommodate Rooney (who didn't play in the Germany game).Yeah, and Alli is a really strange player. Agreed, an Iceland goal in the next 5 minutes is more likely.I don't get that feeling at all.
Impossible for me to believe this will really end 2-1 Iceland, but as sphincters tighten who knows.I'm getting an England v Cameroon (1990 World Cup QFs) vibe out of this game...late equalizer followed by the winner in extra time?
Maybe he'll do a Messi and retire from international football.Jesus Christ Rooney is having an absolute shocker
He plays for Leicester. He's lucky he even made the squad.I don't know Xs and Os and England's squad well enough to understand why Vardy is a sub instead of a starter, but his pace is just so hard to deal with that it really seems like he should be in there putting pressure on back lines for 90 minutes.
Takes set pieces,.... badly.Someone tell me what Kane does.
Because you have to play championship players from clubs like Manche...nevermind.I don't know Xs and Os and England's squad well enough to understand why Vardy is a sub instead of a starter, but his pace is just so hard to deal with that it really seems like he should be in there putting pressure on back lines for 90 minutes.
Fills the role of "Stereotypical upper-class-looking English Footballer" vacated by Scott Parker.Someone tell me what Kane does.
Mark Noble is fishing and not available for this match.I love that they are looking to put on rash ford because they need another striker ??? Not a midfielder who can you what's the word ... Pass?
