I love that Spain scored right after Twellman was waxing poetic about Italy playing with such purpose in the second half.

That's always been a handball. It stopped theball from moving away from 1000 year man

Do you guys actually want that to be called a penalty? Yeah, it hit his hand, but it's in a natural position, the touch is accidental, and it didn't look like the ball was going to roll that much further away from where it ended up. That would've been a shitty way to decide this game.

Completely agreed. On top of that, his first contact with the ball wasn't his hand. It deflected off him first and then rolled slowly into his arm, which was there as part of playing the ball.

I don't, although the histrionic complaints from the Italian defenders would have been highly enjoyable.

If VAR isn't going to sort out a guy getting wrapped up and tackled in the box, I don't see the point in using it to determine if the ball grazed someone's finger.

It honestly feels like the only hope for Italy at this point is to get it to PKs and win it there. Because they show no signs of attacking right now. Spain is dominating the run of play.

If this keeps up much longer, you have to wonder if Italy will play for penalties (or a counter, if Spain allows it) in the 2nd half of extra time.

Jorginho has really been exposed defensively in this game. Pedri and Olmo have been giving him fits.

Italy seems to be taking all their goal scorers off the field. So far they've taken off Insigne, Immobile, and Chiesa.

Doesn't work that way. Gotta win the game. (I know you know this, but how many sporting events have we seen where one team is "better" than the other in so many ways except the scoreboard)
Oh no question. And it may be that Italy's strategy turns out to be a smart one. Although I'm not sure who takes their PKs.

Right for sure. That last comment is part of what I was getting at when it seemed like they're taking off all their offensive players.

Not much faith in Spain in these PKs, they were very lucky to get by Switzerland. Italy feels like a steelier side.

It's a shame Spain is going to lose this. They have been so great today.
