You thought the boarding call was weak? Really? I thought it was pretty blatant.
Yeah, the first boarding call against Kadri was not a weak call. I can't see how anyone could say that. Of course, CBC probably thought the 2nd one was weak too.
On the first penalty, Kadri came in from the side, but still put his hands on the 5 and 7 and shoved Wingels face first into the boards. He could’ve gone straight into him and knock him down to the ice instead of into the boards.
He just pushed him .. it wasn't a blatant charge or crosscheck.
But Kahdri's subsequent boarding call on Wengle(sp. ?) was retaliation for the elbow to Marner. It wasn't completely out of the blue.
My point was just that it's really fucking dumb to get called for boarding someone, then IMMEDIATELY go back after that same player in an even more egregious manner.
It wasn't a charge or a cross check. It was boarding. And it was pretty much textbook boarding at that.
Better question: how does that absolve Kadri from doing what he did? He saw 57, literally, and still made the hit.

If Kadri was retaliating, that *makes what he did worse* — it makes his intent clear.
Wingels “elbow” on Marner was a borderline minor. It could have been called but is let go just as often. You’re right that Kadri’s major wasn’t in isolation though.
Still, the major penalty was earned and in that circumstance, the minor is rarely called.
