3. Mac Jones, particularly on the INT.

Hard to argue with any of those. Other than the INT, I thought Mac was decent in the 2nd half, as he was being pressured every single drop back, and many times had to throw on the run. But the INT was inexcusable (he wasn't under pressure), both on his part and Parker's.1. Pretty much the entire offensive line, except maybe Trent Brown.

It’s so weird. BB has always drafted tackles high and stock piled good players at that position. It’s clearly been a problem since 2019. There were tackles available in free agency.OL
Bill Belichick for building this OL

They had plenty of good linemen, too, over the years.Scar was always the glue that held the line together for 20 years - now we are just like every other NFL team
Yep, and the first year he “retired” (before coming back) their OL sucked too.Scar was always the glue that held the line together for 20 years - now we are just like every other NFL team
It's not the coaching in this case. It's clearly the personnel. I'll give Strange as pass this one game, but the rest of the line couldn't do anything against a league average DL.Yep, and the first year he “retired” (before coming back) their OL sucked too.
One would think he could have passed on whatever OL magic he had to someone else, but it really doesn’t seem to be the case.
Strange was the one giving passes tonight. Right through to the QB. Heyoooo! It's not the coaching in this case. It's clearly the personnel. I'll give Strange as pass this one game, but the rest of the line couldn't do anything against a league average DL.

We seem to have a big problem signing or drafting wide receivers the past few years.Surprised nobody has mentioned JuJu. 5-28 and a total non-factor from our big FA signing.

I mean, I'm willing to give the guy some time, the line has never been close to healthy since he got here. Not sure how much the coach can upgrade a unit that can't practice.I thought Klemm was supposed to be a big upgrade as the OL coach? I suppose he doesn’t have much to work with right now.
The 2001 season also started 0-2 so…Mac has to know the situation and not make that throw. It was a killer.
I will say it again. I think some have short memories here. Watch the 2001 season and tell me why that team was successful. Didn’t make mistakes and got some breaks. Not because they were dominant.
There was more than just that. That team could run the ball very well (Antowain Smith was a beast), and the D could hit in a way that literally isn’t allowed today.Mac has to know the situation and not make that throw. It was a killer.

Not the way they are playing now no. They’ve lost to two 2-0 teams with a chance to tie/win on last possession and lost the TO battle. If they play cleaner this team has the talent and coaching to compete. If they don’t figure out how to make 3-5 more plays a game then this season won’t improve. There was more than just that. They weren’t “dominant” but that was a very good team with good players all over the field. Do you think this 2023 is going to win 11 games and go to the SB like the 2001 team?
I don’t see it. The NFL produces close games. That’s just the way the league is. 10 games this week we’re decided by 1 score or less. This team likely wont play “cleaner” because they’re not good enough to do that. The OL is awful. The WRs have zero explosiveness. Mac can’t hit on a deep ball. Not the way they are playing now no. I thought the defense played well today. I think the offense has the talent to play better. If they don’t they don’t win.I don’t see it. The NFL produces close games. Problem is, AFC East mostly only plays upper half teams. Two mirror-image close losses against what are probably upper-half teams in the league. not sure what to make of it. Feels like they are close to something, but could use up the season trying to find it.
Why does this surprise you? These WRs scare no one and they cannot run block or pass protect.Btw the Pats had two explosive plays all game: the 18 yard scramble from Mac and Rham’s 13 yard run. Such a disappointment.
The 2001 team definitely excelled situationally in ways it looks like this team cannot. They may yet get there but it seems miles away. The more accurate analogy is probably the 2000 team, which played lots of one score games but could not close them, lacked offensive explosiveness and generally looked overmatched.Mac has to know the situation and not make that throw. It was a killer.

On the last play, a 4th down they had to get, the OL let basically a free rusher directly up the middle. He was barely touched as he ran directly at Mac, that just can’t happen. Mac got a decent ball out quickly and took a solid hit but had zero time to do anything else. Atrocious play by the OL.https://x.com/philaperry/status/1703638166731665501?s=46&t=kvYWuq6n2wZg-KCGv0fpWg
Perry:
Some NextGen Stats on Mac Jones...
Time to throw: 2.38s (3rd fastest in Week 2 so far)
Intended air yards: 9.1 (7th)
Completed air yards: 4.3 (24th)
Aggressiveness % (tight-window rate): 19 (5th)
Completion % over expected: 11.2 (6th)
That sums it up to me. Mac had to get the ball out fast to throw into tight windows because his guys weren’t getting open consistently, and while he attempted to go deep none of his guys made plays. Oh he also had a couple throws I’m sure he would like back.
Second week where Mac is going to be in the top 5 for quickest time to throw.
I would just like to see them win a game before projecting 9, 10 wins, whatever. 1-3 looks like the best case scenario start right now. They'll only challenge for the division if Mia and Buff have health issues at key positions and they themselves manage to stay healthy (already not happening at OL and CB).I'm going to be positive. They have had chances to win or tie both of their games at the end so far against what most people consider two of the best teams in the NFL.
The schedule sucks, but if they keep playing like this they should win 10 games. Clean up the turnovers and they could challenge for the division (now you all can tell me I am insane).
