Typical derby so far. Some good moments for both teams, and already a question whether both sides should have 11.
Yup.
Good moments for each, more for Liverpool than Everton, but neither team at its best.
Everton's injuries are lethal. Part of the game, next man up, etc. etc. but the positions of the guys who are out has Koeman playing a different formation and it's not working. Both Funes Mori* and Coleman out led to Koeman playing three at the back, which was a good formation for Everton earlier in the season but is not working with Pennington and Holgate. Holgate has impressed on the right of a back three at times, but not today - looks like he's cheating to cover up for Pennington who is the real weak spot. Both of Liverpool goals come from outside Holgate. Schneiderlin out is brutal too. He has been excellent as a DM in helping to absorb pressure, gain possession, and start the attack from the back. Nothing like that at all for Everton today. Lots of long balls, no build-up at all, Barkley and Lukaku isolated.
*I hate Funes Mori. Have to throw that in there every time. But I miss him today. I hate typing that.
