I was there! Revs were a crossbar away from maybe changing the entire trajectory of soccer in Boston. I truly wonder whether a the team could have parlayed that championship into a culture of success (mirroring what the Pats were doing) that would have changed the public readiness and incentive to get a city stadium done.Amazing accomplishment, now time to get just the right amount of rest and finally win an MLS Cup too. The (I think) sold out final at Gillette is one of my favorite in-person sports memories, despite the ending. Would love to see something like that again.
Bruce said on the Sports Hub to expect a rotated side for both tonight’s Orlando match and the midweek match against Colorado, then a full strength XI for the season finale. I think that means close to a B squad again for the Rapids, maybe even Knighton too. Will be interesting to see how Bruce plays it. Full B squad midweek, maybe, then the starters to close it out on 11/7? Won't play again until 11/30.
First game I got to watch this season. Revs sat 9 starters until subbing around 45th to 60th minutes. B squad played pretty well and had a few chances.. but they were pretty dominant with more of their starters.. the passing up front was pretty nice.Revs rally down 2 goals on the road with 10 minutes to go in Orlando to nab a point. Buksa scores twice. Win the final two at home.

The points record is nice-to-have, but I wouldn't go out of my way to prioritize it. The SS is in the bag, now being as prepared as possible for MLS Cup is the #1 priority. If they care they need 3 points in their last 2 games to set an MLS record for most points in a season
The first Revs playoff match isn’t until November 25 or 30 (and rumors are pointing towards 11/30*) so that doesn’t seem like a great option. It’s pretty sensible to play the first team XI at least one more time before then.I'd put Turner and the Big 3 into bubblewrap until the playoffs start
It’s hard to find precedent for something like that, as the circumstances surrounding meaningless regular season games followed by important single elimination playoff matches is pretty rare outside North America. Liga MX has a similar structure with the regular season ending on the same weekend as MLS, but the top seeds will play no later than 11/25.Is there any history that suggests a five week layoff is bad for players? I ask as I don’t know, but I do understand rust. I just think this team has been quite fortunate injury wise and I’d hate to see an important piece go down in a leaning less game. And I don’t know Bruce Arena beyond reputation, but my guess is he feels winning the Cup is 100x as important as setting points records is.
