I've been waiting for 6 months to upgrade since my iPhone5 came off contract, was planning on going with the 6s, but today's reveal actually has me thinking of giving Android a shot. Granted, there were almost no surprises because I've been following leaks and rumors for the past couple months. 3D touch is kinda cool, I guess, but I'm not seeing much value over long-press as seen on other mobile OS'. I'm sure it's value will grow over time, but it just didn't "wow" me.
I also found myself tired of the Apple Event shtick, and a little turned off by the company in general. Jony Ive's going on about how the iPad Pro's bigger size is an "amplification" of everything we love about iPad (just as he said the mini was a "concentration" of the same) was, for reasons I can't pinpoint, really annoying to me. Tim Cook may have said "Amazing" 300 times. All these dudes with untucked shirts.
Sitting in my living room is an AppleTV (3rd gen) that I never use since buying Amazon's FireTV. I'm thinking of selling the ATV and breaking away completely from the Apple ecosystem. I can't see how Apple's movie & TV service competes with Amazon, especially if you have Prime, no matter how nice the hardware and interface on the new ATV may be. And again, Apple's device will cost 50-100% more than the competition's.
I just didn't see anything I want to own in this presentation, and I find myself seeing Apple as a little stale. Their tech just doesn't seem to stand as high above the competition as I once felt it did. Did anyone else have a similar reaction? Am I just tired and cranky today? Maybe I'm just fatigued with tech in general.
