Too late for this year obviously, but I wonder if Spags gets back into the HC discussion soon. He had a monster year and playoffs. 64 maybe on the edge age wise, but I could see him getting some looks.
I don’t know, maybe don’t fix what’s not broken. He’s got 4 as DC

The ravens really choked this year - coaching staff and lamar were awful in a winnable game

mind you, I don’t like the ravens but I’m up for anyone winning besides the chiefs (and of course jets)
Yep. It’s why it is inconceivable on this board that anyone would be rooting for the Chiefs regardless of matchup.

I may have more coherent thoughts tomorrow. Or maybe not.

Yeah, I know it’s hard to win the Suoerbowl and I know Spags is a great defensive coach, but this game really made me upset and irrational.
Shanahan keptcalling stupid plays in the 2nd half when they are usually one of the best teams to adjust.
Then the defense that was playing Mahomes and co so well seemed to stop playing.
Then they needed one 1st down with less than 2 minutes to go to be able to ice the game.
Then they had the oportunity to get that TD in OT but…
Then they had the Chiefs on 4th down and fell for a stuois play they maybe should have anticipated.
And finally they just pkayed soft defense that allowed the Chiefs to move the ball at will on that final drive. Seemed like Mahomes was playing another team.

And after all that they could have won the game.

This hurts. Deeply.

The NFC is catching up, the Niners will have a tough road ahead. The Rams are improved, the Lions are improved, the Packers are improved, the Eagles will come back… It’s not like they have an easy road to the Superbowl again.
The 49ers’ pass rush just looked gassed by the 4th.

I really don’t want either of these teams in the Super Bowl next year and the near future (not until the Pats win a 7th at a minimum)
There aren't many QBs close enough to Mahomes to be a real challenge. His odds are good for more wins in the next few years.

I don't know. Feels like he slipped over the sash just as the window's closing. They could win again, but they're hardly a shoo in.

Most of the team is young. Kelce will stick around another year or two. Pacheco is very good. Mahomes is acquiring new skills and knowledge every year. etc. And the coaching is great.

If KC signs Mike Evans I don't see why they wouldn't be a top 3 favorite again come January.
Even with no additions, I'd put them there. If it weren't for an epidemic of drops, they would have done even better in the regular season. I think they were perceived as being weaker than they really were.
Of course, they only managed to win the SB in OT against a team that made many bonehead errors... but great teams like KC win under all kinds of circumstances, because they don't make (as many of) the bonehead errors.

Imagine how many more rings the Pats would have if they didn’t have any good QB competition for Brady to go up against.

Mahomes is blessed.

I've been incepted by Tony because I agree. Romo and Nantz called a great game, the former with cool analysis and his singing.
Tony saying at the end of the first half that Mahomes was rushing mentally and that the 49ers defense had him a little rattled was probably the first time in a long time I heard him say something insightful (probably based on his own experience) and slightly critical of Mahomes.

They won fair and square, but it's not like they steamrolled the rest of the NFL.
No, but add a high end player at their biggest position of need while bringing back the best QB in the league and a top end defense and I'm not sure why they aren't the clear favorite to win next year. Obviously a lot of offseason to happen, but I'm not sure what could happen to put another team ahead of them.

I found most of his insights to be value added. His pre-snap stuff is great. I know we have people amongst us who see that without it being pointed out but its pretty useful imo.

Booger on why Mahomes is better than Brady:

“Brady had an offensive line and other pieces around him that Mahomes doesn’t have.”
Is this what passes for cutting-edge sports analysis nowadays? Barf.

(SB51 comeback happened without Gronk!)

Sorry for your loss. Losing big games close is brutal. Well run team though. They'll be back.

You could make an argument the Chiefs haven’t beaten any great teams during this run. Certainly no one the caliber of the 01 Rams or 14 Seahawks.
Last year’s Eagles team was awesome and so was this year’s Ravens and Niners by DVOA.

You’re 100% right and anything else is just salty Pats fans. And I hate the Chiefs (but have nothing but respect for Mahomes, Reid, and Kelce), but they took this game. The Niners squandered like 4 chances to put it away (or close to it) and they didn’t. It was dumb. Their playcalling was dumb.

That was a tough one for you and all the good Niners fans on this board. I feel for you.

Absolutely. To the posters here that wanted to see the Chiefs win… well that should be ban-worthy. Wtf.

Yeah, well, not all of us are Patriots fans in case you haven't noticed.
