I hope Jaylen stays away from Ice Cube, who has been on a Kyrie/Kanye type of track.

Edit: And that he doesn’t get hurt.

So every other current NBA player had the good sense not to do this?

Somewhere
Allow me to elaborate: this follows with a lot of things we feared about Jaylen. I guess as long as he keeps playing well…

Sadly, considering Jaylen’s previous support for Kyrie, we might have to assume that his support of Cube might not be despite the man’s history of antisemitism but possibly because of it. Jaylen’s tendency to go out of his way to help people who have espoused Black Hebrew Israelite conspiracies makes you wonder if he harbors similar views..

Could just be that he respects Cube as a business man/rapper?

I will be honest, I had no idea that Cube was a Black Hebrew Israelite. I did see that he threw out some tepid support for Trump (which sucks) but I didn’t know anything further

I am not sure if he’s actually a Black Hebrew Israelite but he’s definitely got some issues with anti-semitism and has posted memes that support BHI conspiracy theories. I mean, I guess it’s not fair to assume Jaylen buys into all of these beliefs just because he seems to regularly associate with people who do, it’s just a shame that he seems drawn to the Kanye, Kyrie and Cube’s of the world when he’s supposedly smart enough to recognize their idiocy. I get that he wants to support African-American leaders, but it would be nice if he would elevate “leaders” who weren’t conspiracy believing morons who blindly believe idiotic social media memes.

I loved Jaylen precisely because of what he did and does for his community. It's clear he's really smart and cares deeply about the problems affecting his community.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I see a guy like that rise to prominence, there's the hope that he's one of those who just 'gets it.' In general. So then when he implies support for people who are actively promoting racism against other communities, it's sad.

Like, I get it. The Black community has its own set of memes and inherited beliefs, like any other. Like any other community, some are toxic. It's human enough to buy into them. I'm not at the stage of condemning him for it, though I wouldn't blame Jewish folks who would. It feels a lot like JK Rowling early on when I was very much like "Eh, she's a 70s feminist, those guys did good work but had worrying blind spots about trans issues and she associated with a lot of people who fit that mold, but she's never said anything outright bigoted herself."

Maybe he goes down the dark path, maybe he ends up being one of those activist types who has the odd troubling view, but still ends up majority positive for what he does with the issues he's on the right side of. But it's still a little disappointing.

Obviously this is a personal thing but I find Jaylen and Ice Cube's flirtations with BHI stuff noteworthy but not problematic.

Kyrie, on the other hand, isn't just flirting with it - he is amplifying it. To me that distinction is significant but I completely understand if others don't think so.
