Yu Chang in the lineup. The rest is window dressing.
I got the urge last night to compare Kike to the legendary (or would it be infamous) Don Buddin.

Buddin was the starting shortstop for 4, nearly 5 years (took over in 57, lasted until 61).

The most errors he made in a season was 35, in a little over 150 games. Extrapolate Kike's 61 games at short into 150...and you get 35 as well.

Even worse, Buddin's worst fielding percentage was in 1959 at .949. The league average fielding percentage* at short that year was .959. Meanwhile, Kike SS at .934 is 38 points below the league average in 2023 of .972.

*I guess .959 versus .972 supports the long standing claim that scoring decisions these days favor the batter and not the pitcher.

@PeteAbe
A few injury updates:
* Bleier could rejoin the roster in Oakland.
* Sox want Schreiber to go back-to-back this week. He could return during the next homestand.
* Reyes will play again today in AAA. He's also close.
* Whitlock not playing catch, so this is now two weeks.

Game 94
A loss to the Cubs showed one of our themes.
If the Sox really have post-season dreams,
we have to start beating the lesser teams.
I don’t think we need to go to extremes,
making massive trades or changing regimes,
but as the deadline approaches, it seems,
that benching Kike is one of the schemes
that could increase wins and cut down our screams.

I mean, not the best first two batters, but it's not a disaster yet

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Looks like a normalish lineup, except maybe having Alfaro in there. . .depends on if Cora's willing to lose a catcher by PHing for him later when they (hopefully) get into the pen.

Crawford looked pissed at himself there. Good. Stay pissed.
