Mariners fans can't be thrilled in retrospect that J-Rod hit 81 HRs in the Derby on Monday night and then couldn't go last night with left wrist soreness. Maybe those aren't connected but I am guessing they are. Also, they lost last night, but this Mariners team is magic and fun.
I agree, and I have the same concerns.Mariners fans can't be thrilled in retrospect that J-Rod hit 81 HRs in the Derby on Monday night and then couldn't go last night with left wrist soreness. Maybe those aren't connected but I am guessing they are.
Supposedly the injury happened before the Derby, fwiw. I agree with the overall point, though.Mariners fans can't be thrilled in retrospect that J-Rod hit 81 HRs in the Derby on Monday night and then couldn't go last night with left wrist soreness. JD hasn't played since the all star game. Fun times.Mariners fans can't be thrilled in retrospect that J-Rod hit 81 HRs in the Derby on Monday night and then couldn't go last night with left wrist soreness. Maybe those aren't connected but I am guessing they are.
I hope the teams meet again in the World SeriesPaul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado will not make the trip to Toronto for the Cardinals' upcoming two-game series due to their vaccination status.
Weird. I thought I’d read they were one of the teams who made the threshold last year, guess those two must have been in the other 15% (or whatever)! I was starting to warm to this version of the Cardinals, too, should’ve known.Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado will not make the trip to Toronto for the Cardinals' upcoming two-game series due to their vaccination status.
There has to be someone (traveling secretary?) on the team responsible for checking these at the beginning of the year and after any acquisitions.Funnier is a reliever has an expired passport.

…but pops still has the higher career batting average.Kody Clemens (rookie non-pitcher) now has more relief appearances (3) than his dad Roger had in his whole career (2).
Outfielders have started playing farther back the last couple of seasons to cut off doubles. Maybe this is a function of that. This is anecdotal, and I haven't done the research, but I feel like a lot more players are tagging up from first this season. Has anyone else noticed this?
Probably a combination of that and shifts putting infielders out of position. Not that second is going uncovered necessarily, but even runners threatening to tag up and advance can cause the infielders to scramble (maybe have a 3B covering second) and create a greater chance of a defensive misplay. Kind of in the same vein as runners looking to pop up and go to third on a play at second because the infield is shifted and third base might be uncovered.Outfielders have started playing farther back the last couple of seasons to cut off doubles. It could also be a result of the ball being dead. More balls are dying on the warning track and teams have a need to try and take more chances to generate runs.Probably a combination of that and shifts putting infielders out of position. In his career….he’s 238/340/429 as a starter, and 377/500/610 as a substitute. Granted, it’s 1477 PA vs 98, but still…pretty crazy split

I wonder about that part. It makes sense to trade him from a logical standpoint, but e seems like the guy who you do deal him could derail the clubhouse and what they have going this year. Tough, tough call to makeTrey Mancini just had what is likely his last home AB as an Oriole, BAL up 1-0 in the 8th against TB with a runner on. He hit a ball to Josh Lowe who lost it in the sun, and Mancini came around and scored, generously ruled an inside-the-park home run.
He didn't chase after the ball. I wonder what they are saying about that over on the Offspring of Carlos Pena message board? He’s lucky he didn’t get hurt, assuming he didn’t get hurt.
