Tanguay is brutal as a host. Just brings absolutely zero to the table in terms of sports knowledge, wit, anything at all.
HOWEVER, his explanation of why there's a different standard for women and minorities being "offended" vs. white men was about the most lucid you're ever likely to hear on sports radio. He's a buffoon, but genuinely seemed to get the difference between "PC" and actual systemic and institutional discrimination. Pretty well done.
I was going to post the same thing. Tanguay was
very good today on the PC topic. It's clear he's not a dumb man. He just plays a dumb character.
And that's the worst thing about Tanguay, by the way. His schtick is so transparent. Lots of sports talk show hosts have stupid sports takes, but he comes across as shallower than most. There's no substance behind anything he says.
But when the topic strays from sports, Tanguay seems to be alright. He's been a good liberal foil on that show a couple of times over the last several weeks. The Colmes to Callahan/Minihane's Hannity, so to speak.
If D&C is going to take on a more political and lifestyle tone, which it seems like it will as long as Minihane and Callahan are around, Tanguay's role will probably expand. He also appears to be one of the few people who meshes well with Minihane, and that's important if Minihane is going to be the future of morning drive on EEI.
