Didn't see this elsewhere, but am seeing reports of a possible 3-way trade b/t the Celtics, Clippers, and Wizards that would bring Kristap to the C's and Malcom Brogdon to the Clippers.
Anyone else seeing this?

When I saw this thread, I thought it was a done deal, until I noticed the question marks.Didn't see this elsewhere, but am seeing reports of a possible 3-way trade b/t the Celtics, Clippers, and Wizards that would bring Kristap to the C's and Malcom Brogdon to the Clippers.

to be fair that is a guy whose analysis of the trade was overwhelmingly stupid, so he has to get out first to get the viewsSome websites are reporting this as if it's a done deal. Like this one: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kristaps-porzingis-trade-grades-blockbuster-looks-questionable-for-all-parties-involved/
Yeah I was ignoring the analysis but you are probably correct that he has no downsides to reporting the trade as done.to be fair that is a guy whose analysis of the trade was overwhelmingly stupid, so he has to get out first to get the views
The returns for Beal/Porzingis/Rui are a good reminder to GMs of the downside of blowing things up too late. They have very little to build from right now.I'm not sure why Washington is doing this. Just let Porzingis go to FA and save the $30MM.
All that flotsam + the 30th pick isn't worth $30MM when you can buy high 2nds. ALSO that space would be valuable at the trade deadline
My god, that take is painfully stupid in so many ways it’s difficult to address them all. Some websites are reporting this as if it's a done deal. Like this one: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kristaps-porzingis-trade-grades-blockbuster-looks-questionable-for-all-parties-involved/
Save $30mm for what? They ain’t signing any big free agents and they have to pay someone. They’d still end up with a sizable trade exception from this trade I believe.I'm not sure why Washington is doing this. Just let Porzingis go to FA and save the $30MM.

It’s not much return—but it helps clear their cap sheet and roster while also improving their 2024 pick . And while asset return is low, it’s somethingI'm not sure why Washington is doing this. Just let Porzingis go to FA and save the $30MM.

I heard it could make Porzingis opt out of his deal. What an absolutely terrible at bat by Arroyo.
10MM TPE...They could bid for some RFA and use the cap space to take on some contracts for a better first with that $30MM in spaceSave $30mm for what? They ain’t signing any big free agents and they have to pay someone. They’d still end up with a sizable trade exception from this trade I believe.
he wasn't going to FA, word is he was opting in either way. So now they save some money (not that it matters), get a pick and a $10M TPE to use in their rebuildI'm not sure why Washington is doing this. Just let Porzingis go to FA and save the $30MM.

How about looking it as the Boston team that was two wins from a title two seasons ago just added Porzingis to it instead of Theis? Add a cheap ring chasing wing looking to boost his stock, like JRich, and Boston would be ready to go.Some websites are reporting this as if it's a done deal. Sorry I wasn't more clear - just posted the article because it talked about the trade in the past tense. How about looking it as the Boston team that was two wins from a title two seasons ago just added Porzingis to it instead of Theis? Maybe we can complete Danny's dream and finally get Justise Winslow in a Celtics uniform. He'll be cheap. How about looking it as the Boston team that was two wins from a title two seasons ago just added Porzingis to it instead of Theis? You were perfectly clear. That analysis from CBSSports was trash.Sorry I wasn't more clear - just posted the article because it talked about the trade in the past tense.
Also, thought "analysis" might get s chuckle.
I think the trade is at least a "B+" for the Cs.
For five 3rd round picks?Maybe we can complete Danny's dream and finally get Justise Winslow in a Celtics uniform. He'll be cheap.
yeah but that would just favor the team.I heard it could make Porzingis opt out of his deal.
Played...Y
Taking into consideration how well the Celtics play on the road in the playoffs, and how mediocre they play at home
Yeah I’m going to miss him too, he’s also a very easy guy to root for, which in the last few years had become much more important to me as a fan. That being said, I don’t even think it’s his fault, I don’t think any of us expected White to make the jump/grow comfortable like he did. When we acquired Brogdon, I easily viewed White as the odd man out if we needed to trade a guard. Now he is the easy keep and Brogdon is the odd man out. It was nice depth to have but the team had other more pressing needs.yeah but that would just favor the team.
I'm going to miss Brogdon. The team was a lot better when he could be in rotation, we needed all the guard help we could get this past year and there aren't many better bench guards (considering he won Sixth Man of the Year, that's pretty much by definition). And anyone who's happy to see Brogdon go because of "durability" had better be sitting down when they look at Porzingis's games-played log. Brogdon got a hand injury at the wrong time of year but had otherwise been very durable for us.
Don’t think so. Porzingis just needs to opt in before that deadline to secure his 36 mill for next year. This has to be done by midnight?
This sucks. I wonder which team got cold feet?
I'd worry more aboutIf this happens, can we put a filter on "Zinger". Pretty please?
I'd guess the Wizards. This sucks. I wonder which team got cold feet?
Can I fight Woj on the undercard of Musk/Zuck?Adrian Wojnarowski

The Wizards are still working on ways to get Kristaps Porzingis to the Celtics in an opt-in and trade scenario, but it won't be in a three-way with the Clippers, sources tell ESPN. Porzingis still has the ability to decline his $36 million player option and become a free agent.
Could still be the Wiz, they didn't like what LAC was offerring enough, Clippers backed out rather than up the package and now BOS/WAS go to the other teams with Brogdon interest looking for better assets for LAC.Huh, would have guessed the WIz as well. Seems very alive.
Sounds like bullshit, I mean come on. Unless he needs Tommy John?Marc Stein

Concerns raised by the Clippers about Malcolm Brogdon's injury status, league sources say, led to the collapse of the three-team trade expected to send Kristaps Porzingis to Boston before midnight tonight. A direct Wizards/Celtics deal has not been ruled out.
Wouldn't be the first time you were right! Amirite?I'd guess the Wizards.
the 30th pick wasn't enough to take on all that flotsam (what I said an hour ago)
Well this is great. So now Brogdon is damaged goods, that’ll really help his trade value.Marc Stein
