I have a heard a different version from Charlie Root the pitcher. He said when the first strike was called Ruth said "You got 2 left" and pointed to him with two fingers. When it was strike two Ruth said "All right you got one left" and pointed one finger with his right hand towards the outfield. Then he hit the Home Run. I heard that from a baseball writer on a PBS baseball show in the late 70's or early 80's who had interviewed him. Root passed in 1970. He is still the Cubs all time leader in wins with 201. Roots daughter talks about it on one of the You Tube posted videos at the end of the video. The sad thing is the day before he died his daughter said Root said to her....."I was a pretty damn good pitcher, but I'm only going to be known for one thing" Sort of like Bill Buckner, a damn good ball player.
