The Sixers totally believe they can win this game and the Lakers continue going through stretches of mental lapses. This 4Q may be very interesting. He did that the other night after a Zion dunk too.
The run is up to 46-16 in under 11 minutes of game action now.
I was just about to post a screencap of that boxscore. It is something. Chriss and Bender are hilarious enough given the context but add in Wiggins, Mulder and JTA and...Mychal Mulder
Damion Lee
Andrew Wiggins
Juan Toscano-Anderson
Marquese Chriss
Three-man bench: Jordan Poole, Eric Paschall, Dragan Bender
Blew out the Nuggets in Denver, 116-100.
His form is totally different, credit to him and the Pelicans.Lonzo Ball shot it 7-10 from behind the arc last night. He’s now quietly shooting 37.1% from 3 on high volume of 6.4 attempts per game. FT% is up to 57.8% from last years 41%.
Gosh I hope the Pelicans make the playoffs. Zion & company against lakers in round 1 would be awesome. His form is totally different, credit to him and the Pelicans.
Atlanta has a roster with a lot of guys I like but are still terrible. I'm not sure if it is coaching or just the guys are not that good, but I like their upside.John Collins last 23 games: .628/.461/.835, 23.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.3 blocks.
For the season: .579/.406/.810, 21.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.6 blocks, 37 games. He's shooting .635 from 2. His .406 from 3 point land actually causes his EFG% to drop. LOL.
3.6 3PA a game too. This was a guy who had like no range at all in college and attempted all of 1 3 pointer. Here we are not even 3 years later. Here's looking at you Grant. At least from 3.
I was always told as a kid "even on terrible teams, someone has to score." On paper, you'd think a team with John Collins and Trae Young would be pretty good. Are the other starters really that bad or are John Collins and Trae Young doing a lot of stat padding making them look a bit better than they really are? Someone has to score, someone has to rebound.Atlanta has a roster with a lot of guys I like but are still terrible. I was going by scouting reports and the stats backed it up. I watch very little college basketball because I hate the product and don't think it really tells you much. He was a 73% FT shooter in college which as you know is a good sign if a player will be able to extend his range or not. Probably less of a sign now than it was 4-5 years ago but still a sign.I don’t trust college counting stats to show what Collins perimeter shooting skills were at that time since so much of this is a function of a teams system. Danny Manning coached teams have never had more 3PA than opponents in any of his 8 seasons. and Wake is 295th in the country this year.
This “could” be similar to KAT when people questioned his perimeter shooting ability at UK without having knowledge that he was a 3-pt beast w NBA range in HS in a different system.
Of course there is a chance none of this applies and Collins is just now developing his range. My point is that we don’t have all of the information.
I know of another team that has a reputation for being good defensively that gave up 51 points in a quarter a couple of days ago.The Nuggets haven’t even pretended to be interested in defense for months now. Why would I expect that an embarrassing blow out to the 2018 Suns would wake them up? Poor leadership......these players should be ashamed giving up 34 1Q points to the anemic Hornets offense.
Some will credit Millsap, Harris or Mike Malone for Denver locking up Charlottes sets while holding them to just 17 2Q points to secure the 1H cover.......Not me. I give full credit my original post!!!The Nuggets haven’t even pretended to be interested in defense for months now. I will take the Jazz. The first two are capable of beating anyone in a given series if everything fell right. Most fraudulent “contender”: Rockets, Nuggets, or Jazz?
She should have poured some out for Curry and Kerr. This has been a really entertaining game though.A woman in the stands just chugged a full glass of wine in this Warriors game.
They can't defend free throws.Of the NBA's elite teams, Boston seems to struggle more with the Rockets than others do, for whatever reason.
So the Rockets don't get to the line against elite teams other than the C's?They can't defend free throws.
The Rockets are one of the better teams in the league against top-10 opponents, and also beat the Lakers (their likely 2nd round matchup) recently. This narrative is not correct.Of the NBA's elite teams, Boston seems to struggle more with the Rockets than others do, for whatever reason.
The Bucks, the Heat, the Nuggets, the Clippers, the Thunder, the Lakers, and the Jazz (who are not elite) all have at least one win over Houston this season. (Toronto is 0-1 against the Rockets). The Rockets are one of the better teams in the league against top-10 opponents, and also beat the Lakers (their likely 2nd round matchup) recently. That said, the Clippers did have an interesting blueprint for handling this new version of the Rockets: prioritize showing Russ bodies in the paint over defending the 3-point guys. It's similar to the Bucks approach of being willing to live with mediocre guys shooting a lot from downtown.
Ah, you meant in terms of the Celtics matching up with them, not “why doesn’t Houston play well against good teams?” (they do).The Bucks, the Heat, the Nuggets, the Clippers, the Thunder, the Lakers, and the Jazz (who are not elite) all have at least one win over Houston this season. Boston has none. Boston went 0-2 against Houston in 2018-19 as well.
It's OK if the Rockets are a bad matchup for the C's, because the likelihood of a postseason matchup is slim.
At this point, I feel like it's all about the C's health. If they have a full complement of players for the playoffs---imagine that!--I like their chances against almost anybody, except probably Milwaukee.Ah, you meant in terms of the Celtics matching up with them, not “why doesn’t Houston play well against good teams?” (they do).
I’m not sure I’d take much from either of those regular season games—they easily could have gone either way, and I think the Celtics have another gear they can hit. Just trying on the boards would have won the second game, for example.
Conversely, I’m fairly worried about the Bucks even though the Celtics handled them in Boston and then lost a close game on a road B2B. Their length at the rim is going to put a lot of pressure on the Cs to make shots.
In general I’m bullish for the Celtics in matchups where the adjustment if they’re having issues is “try harder” (Raps, Lakers, Rockets, Heat) and less when it’s “hit enough 3s to force them out of their comfort zone” (Milwaukee, Version of Philly that May No Longer Exist).
The Lakers aren’t even playing that well on offense either. This is sickening. The Lakers match up much too well with Milwaukee. God help me if I have to root for Bledsoe and Middleton as a last line of defense against an LAL title.
This post is perfect. A masterpiece.I cant believe I subjected myself to this and Mark Jackson on a Friday night.
And anticipatory go fuck yourself to Middleton and his 5-20 for when he shoots 80% from the field against us next week.
Can’t wait to see the Lakers offense vs the Clippers defense this year. Clips are 10-0 with league best Def Eff when fully healthy......and they have been on a mission since the game following the ASG.The Lakers aren’t even playing that well on offense either.
That's interesting. I thought he was held in fairly high regard. I am curious what prompted this given the timing.Wow, the Nets have parted ways with Kenny Atkinson per Shams. I'm guessing Kyrie and KD didn't like what they saw from him.
