Good lord. I know it takes a certain level of delusion to reach the highest mountains but oh boyZHe claims his lateral quickness is as fast as DeAaron Fox moving in a straight line. I love Marcus but I am skpetical.

I don't think that's what he said. I think he's comparing his lateral quickness to theirs. I.e., he has better lateral quickness than RWB's lateral quickness and his lateral quickness is as fast as Fox's lateral quickness. He claims his lateral quickness is as fast as DeAaron Fox moving in a straight line. This is what I heard as well. He talks about fast players later too and name checks Fox as well as Russ when saying you can't guard them out too far.I don't think that's what he said. Because he says right after that "But those mofos are faster than me."
Ahh…. Marcus? You play for a team in Massachusetts.Marcu Smart blowing up on Twitter with some pretty funny John Adams smack
Takes little “talent” to play defense. Takes a wholelotta “want to”. Get every 50/50 ball. If you’re not quik defensively—get strong. Strength hides weaknesses. Take charges. Be a gr8 teammate. Compete. Never be ok w losing. No one remembers the 2nd US President. Only the 1st.
Sit down, John, you fat mother—[BLEEP]I am team Smart btw. Adams is tiny and would get played off the court in crunch time.
This board would have gone nuts when the Continental Congress started Washington and Jefferson in the 2 bigs lineup.I am team Smart btw. Adams is tiny and would get played off the court in crunch time.
When I played in college we were in the same conference as Washington and Lee University……..they played small. This board would have gone nuts when the Continental Congress started Washington and Jefferson in the 2 bigs lineup.

Generals alum here. Where and when did you play? When I played in college we were in the same conference as Washington and Lee University……..they played small.

Guilford College Class of ‘97. Home of ML Carr and Lloyd (pre-World B) Free. Same Coach and I’ve got stories. Went back to school at 28 and was 32 my final season. Yes, damn proud of that.Generals alum here. Where and when did you play?

Nice! You ought to be proud. Guilford just joined the ODAC in the early 1990s right when I was graduating.Guilford College Class of ‘97. Home of ML Carr and Lloyd (pre-World B) Free. Same Coach and I’ve got stories. Went back to school at 28 and was 32 my final season. Yes, damn proud of that.

Thanks guys. Yes, they were NAIA back when NAIA meant something and got a National Championship one year. We’ve made some deep D-3 Championship runs over the past decade or so too. I would have included Kaufman as he was the lesser known NBA player from the school but should have known SoSH would know lol. That’s awesome, props to you
I know these guys live different lives than us, but being unhappy with the team after signing a $77M deal is crazy to me.musta been something Ime wants to send a message for. Otherwise (Smart-OUT/Rest). I mean its a preaseason game. If its minor or "understandable" this could be kept in house.
But to list him as "Suspended" sends a message.
"Nobody better mess up or I WILL suspend you. Look at Marcus. Team leader, just signed extension....and his ass is supended"
interesting though with the "WISPS of Smoke" going around last week about "Marcus being off".
So early but if Marcus hamstrings this team for some stupid reason.......grrrr
Hopefully a blessing so Ime can see how smooth the first unit runs with Schroder initiating it on both ends.It feels like if he hadn't just signed an extension, a trade would be just around the corner. Not the first time he's been suspended for dumb shit though.
I think we'll eventually see a Horford/Tatum/Brown/Smart/DS starting 5Hopefully a blessing so Ime can see how smooth the first unit runs with Schroder initiating it on both ends.
From your lips to Buddha's ears.I think we'll eventually see a Horford/Tatum/Brown/Smart/DS starting 5
with TL, JRich, PP, Nesmith, Grant, Langford, Kanter rounding out the rotation.
Yeah, the team should be trying to win games and playoff series. If a 1 year player helps accomplish those things, so be it.Ime should not be looking at next season's roster when it comes to creating rotations for this season. He should be one of the early players off the bench, or starting based on the game situation.
Nope, they can only give him a small percentage raise. He won’t be back next year if he is good this year bAnd if Schroeder proves to be a good fit with the Jays, they can trade Smart and resign DS to a contract that is approximately the same as Smart’s.
whoever compliments the JAYs the best should play the most minutes with them. I like the idea of DS penetrating the lane off the dribble and kicking out to the JAYs/AlI don't think Schroder will start much because he is an almost certain one-year guy. (Unless he has a bad year, he will command more inf ree agency than the Celtics can offer him). I don't think they will build the team around a one-year player.
I think it is a terrible idea because Schroder is a ball dominant, high usage player who shoots a lot, and as a complementary player to stars last year he wasn't that great. Also not a great shooter from distance.whoever compliments the JAYs the best should play the most minutes with them. As others have noted, they cannot. They also shouldn’t because Smart is a much better player than Schroder. And if Schroeder proves to be a good fit with the Jays, they can trade Smart and resign DS to a contract that is approximately the same as Smart’s.
That's not true, he was very efficient with the stars and not very efficient with the Lakers 2nd unitI think it is a terrible idea because Schroder is a ball dominant, high usage player who shoots a lot, and as a complementary player to stars last year he wasn't that great. There is a lot of complaining around here that Marcus Smart shoots too much. Career 11 shots per 36. Schroeder career 16.8 per 36. Even playing with Lebron and Davis last year he took more shots than Smart ever did. People who think Smart shot too much aren't goimg to be happy with Schroder. He's ball-dominant because he's a point guard. He's certainly not a chucker
Seriously? People complain about Smart shooting because he's had a field goal percentage over 40% exactly once in his career. There is a lot of complaining around here that Marcus Smart shoots too much. Smart’s TS% the last three years is .568, .518, .539. Schroder is .508, .575, .540. Schroder’s scoring advantage over Smart is entirely a product of taking more shots.Seriously? People complain about Smart shooting because he's had a field goal percentage over 40% exactly once in his career.
Nobody thinks Schroder is going to be the second coming. But in terms of iniating the offense, finding open shooters, and getting to the cup, Schroder blows Smart out of the water.

For the rest, Schroder undeniably has a stronger track record as a distributor. But Smart has never been asked to be a primary point guard in the NBA. We’ll see how this plays out but the rush to presume Smart cannot successfully run the point is a position that will hopefully look foolish in a few months.
I disagree on the bolded, as it pertains to this particular team. When you have Tatum and Brown as the focal points of your offense, I don't see why you want your point guard taking a ton of shots or looking to create for himself. I agree that Smart is the better passer. He's also the better catch-and-shoot option. Even if they're not running the offense through Brown and Tatum, those guys are going to have the ball a ton. The choice here should be about defense, and who complements the Jays better on offense. I think that's Smart, especially because going bigger at the PG spot allows you to run a switch-everything defense, which I think Brown and Tatum are suited for.I really don't understand the infatuation with Smart as a point guard. He's a better passer than Schroder, sure, but being able to take a large volume of shots is an important aspect of being a point guard. I think Smart may be the better player, but I don't think his best role will ever be as primary point guard because he can't create his own shot.
Smart consistently takes more threes than he does twos because he has never been capable of creating his own shot inside the arc. He's decent at catch and shoot threes, decent at distributing, good at protecting the ball, and bad at everything else. His TS% looks decent because he can't even get to the rim to miss a bunch of shots. The season where he had the best TS% was when he was taking only seven shots a game, the season where we had four or five guys ahead of him who were more capable playmakers and shooters. Comparing their TS% is silly because Schroder is producing those numbers on much higher volume.
Smarts best role is as a defender and bulldog. When he's asked to take on more of a role on offense, the offense suffers and his defense suffers. I want him taking corner threes and stripping defenders, not taking ten shots a game. I would honestly rather have Schroder and Smart as sixth men, but if I had to choose, it's Schroder starting next to the Jays.
