I'm really happy they brought up Hassan and overlooked the first bad stretch of hitting he's had in his entire career to date. Baseball is variable, and they should be looking at the whole body of evidence. There's no doubt in my mind he'll turn it around this season, and it might as well be as he breaks into the major leagues.
It is a real struggle though, as his strikeouts are way up and his walks are down. I wonder if it has something to do with trying to learn 1B. Hopefully, they'll ditch that experiment for the major league run, because with him in the outfield it has the potential to improve the defense. Presumably either Carp or Nava will play 1B and Hassan will take RF. That's better than having Lavarnway out there at 1B and one of those two in the outfield. I don't think Hassan wins any plaudits for range or dependability either, but he's at least got an outstanding arm.
