Fired coach bounce too for RB. Hopefully Gio gets a few minutes here in the second half.Full Timo Werner experience for RB Leipzig so far today; offsides on mistimed runs, misses wide when in on goal, but that pace and work rate puts pressure on the other team, earning a corner that Leipzig capitalized on and later drawing the defenders with another run that leads to an open look that Szoboszlai absolutely buries for a 2-0 lead over Dortmund at the half.
Hah! He always wears that for some reasonPlus the Koln manager has a Scally cap on.
That'll do!Pefok starts for Union. Let’s see if he can be the striker the US needs for the World Cup.
They made their luck on that deflection. Nice start. That'll do!
Becker for Balloon d'OrWow. An impossible angle.
I've never heard it before. I was actually looking around to see if my wife had something on her phone that was making the noise. Are the hand cranked sirens in the stands a thing in Bundesliga? It’s driving me nuts for some reason.
I haven't seen him press much at all for Union, the the point that it seems like his role is more to stand up there and poach goals. The rest of the team works so hard at pressing and countering, and his strike partner, Becker, is so fast, that it probably makes sense to give him to the job to stand around and be ready to score.Koln looks like they had the better halftime talk. Perhaps that plays into the Union counterattack though.
I was hoping to see Pefok press a bit but he seems like he’s either not interested or not asked to do so. I say that as a USMNT fan who knows Berhalter wants that.
And there you go. He does a nice job in the hold up play. Becker is the guy you love to have on your team. Non stop energy and a real pest. Also, he's coming back from a muscle injury. I wouldn't be surprised to see him come off soon.
Becker has improved so much since being given regular playing time. I was really worried about the attack up front, but Becker has so far exceeded expectations that it's gotten the job done very well. This team is producing players like the Rays with an even smaller budget and developing them with a Belichick day-to-day.And there you go. He does a nice job in the hold up play. Thanks!!! I was just going to post a picture of the table in the Bundesliga thread. I really can't believe that this is real.Top of the Bundesliga. Enjoy @candylandriots
So, WTF??A player is in an offside position if:
- any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
- any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent
I don't think a computer program draws the images. It always looks to me like a human draws the lines with the computer making sure they're perfectly parallel to the end lines regardless of the angle of the frame and the human just puts a line for the farthest player on each side.I'm honestly a little confused at how this fuckup occurred. Its a computer program that draws the lines automatically based on imaging, right? How does it miss an entire player? Sure he was on the other side of the field but that happens all the time in offsides calls (ie, the LB plays somebody on who charges down the opposite wing). Surely the system is designed to scan the entire width of the field.
It generally has been. They certainly upped the ante. When I named this thread, I assumed VAR was so much more sanely officiated elsewhere. I guess Serie A gave me the old "hold my Chianti".
They’re saying Bonucci’s attempt to play the ball interfered with the keeper or something. That part of the call would have been terrible if he was offside. The fact it’s immaterial because of Candreva is masking that issue.Maybe I'm being dense, but there's only one touch from a Juve player after the cross, correct? IOW, it's just the header. So how can Milik be offside when the ball was played from the corner?? Like, why are you all talking about a defender who wasn't acknowledged? The ball position on the corner should be dispositive, right?
Despite the avalanche of boos I hear from Union fans when the VAR official is announced, I have almost no concern with how it's been used in the Bundesliga, and view it as a net positive. Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's better than the alternative as implemented in Germany. When I named this thread, I assumed VAR was so much more sanely officiated elsewhere. I guess Serie A gave me the old "hold my Chianti".
Ah OK. That makes it plausible, although as you said the man marking the short corner keeps him on.They claimed Bonucci interfered with the play by making an attempt. Doesn't matter, since he wasn't offside, except with camera that doesn't show Candreva.
