So without the 4-team playoff, it would have been Alabama shutting out #2 Ohio State, with Clemson winning some other BCS bowl by 30 and claiming they wuz robbed.
Pretty much, except Clemson finished #2 so they would have played anyway. So without the 4-team playoff, it would have been Alabama shutting out #2 Ohio State, with Clemson winning some other BCS bowl by 30 and claiming they wuz robbed.
Are we sure Renfrow is handsome enough? I mean sure he's scrappy, but that jaw looks a little weak.So Williams in the first, Boulware in the 3rd and Renfrow in the 6th?
It's be Washington osu in the rose bowlSo without the 4-team playoff, it would have been Alabama shutting out #2 Ohio State, with Clemson winning some other BCS bowl by 30 and claiming they wuz robbed.
Penn State was the Big 10 ChampIt's be Washington osu in the rose bowl
It would be Washington/PSU in the Rose Bowl, Clemson in the Orange Bowl, unless the computer 3rd of the BCS equation moved Clemson ahead of 2 polls which had Ohio St #2.It's be Washington osu in the rose bowl
AmenI feel bad for people that don't watch college football, because they miss games like this, all the time. What a night. Congrats to Clemson. But neither side should feel bad about that one. That was an awesomely played game.
I guess. On the flip side, imagine how much worse Bama's defense would have looked if they'd lost Foster and Brown and maybe a 3rd guy had all been tossed for what could easily have been called targeting. Or if they called the hold on the 1st TD. There were plenty of officiating errors to go around. Clemson won because their offense played well and Bama's didn't.Incredible game, and I'm not sorry to see Bama lose...but I'd be pretty pissed if I were a fan bc Clemson scored via two pretty obvious pick plays.
Above all, amazing game
Saban just can't help himself. Gracious almost until the end.
Clock stops in college while the sticks move, and they had to move a long way. And the power runner was in the medical tent.I know plenty of people will disagreeas they usually do on this topic, but Hurts would have been better off going djwn at like the 2 or 1 yard line and wasting more time. With bamas power run game they should be able to score on 4 plays from there and waste some more time

He was generally complimentary of Clemson, and as Rinaldi is wrapping it up he throws in that it didn't help that #94 got a PF on the last drive. What did he say?
Great last 7 minutes of game time. Even the reviews other than the onsides kick were dealt with quickly. It was so much better than the playoff product the NFL put on the field this weekend.
When I was a little kid it was explained to me that there couldn't be a football playoff because it would interfere with the players' studies.CFB playoff and March Madness came down to last second plays this year. Awesome.
I only saw the last one... and pulling for Clemson, but yeah. Isn't that a rule?Incredible game, and I'm not sorry to see Bama lose...but I'd be pretty pissed if I were a fan bc Clemson scored via two pretty obvious pick plays.

Nick Saban has to answer some questions about their play calling in the 2nd half. I think Scarbrough had 12 carries for 87 yards and 2 td's at halftime. He had a grand total of 4 carries in the 2nd half. They just abandoned the run for no apparent reason in the 2nd half. Even their last touchdown drive, I was sitting there thinking to myself that they had enough time to run the ball, and if they had done so a couple of times, maybe they don't leave 2 minutes on the clock for Watson to come back down and win.
On a side note, has Watson confirmed if he's coming back or declaring for the draft yet? Man, would be fun if he came back for his senior year. He could finish with some monster career numbers. Last td tonight was his 50th touchdown (passing and rushing) of the season.
Then Boulware would have been gone too.I guess. Has nothing to do with graduation but rather eligibility.Watson has already graduated. He gone.
yeah, I was just pointing out that there were a ton of things that could be called, and Bama fans on the balance don't really have more to complain about than Clemson not listing all the bad calls. Then Boulware would have been gone too.
Yeah, I forgot he went down as early as he did. I thought he had made it into the 4th quarter before he got hurt. I still think he should have had more than 4 carries before he got injured, and it's not like the guys behind him (Jacobs and Harris) aren't 14 star recruits who can run pretty damn well too. Harris was the leading rusher on the team, going for over 1,000 yards and averaged over 7 yards a carry for the year, and Jacobs is like lightning in a bottle. For a team that played with a lead for most of the game, Hurts shouldn't have had 31 passing attempts. Saban got away from the run way earlier than I thought they should have, and it also led to Clemson finishing with 99 plays on offense. The most of any team in history against an Alabama team. I'm surprised the Alabama defense was able to stand up at the end of the game, never mind come within a second of forcing a game tying field goal attempt.Scarbrough went out with a leg injury in the 3rd Quarter and did not return.
Doesn't Watson jaunt into the end zone if that happens? Not that Bama could have tried anyway since they didn't call TO to discuss it. But with Watson out there it's really risky. If, as Twitter wants, Alabama's backs tackled (Harbaughed?) the Clemson WRs on the last play and forced a FG, the US might not have seen sunrise.
Can you imagine the uproar if this had happened?Bama should've just hugged every single receiver at the line of scrimmage to force a :01 field goal, like the 9ers did vs the Saints earlier this year
Running is risky too though bc with no timeouts, clemson loses if he doesn't make itDoesn't Watson jaunt into the end zone if that happens? Not that Bama could have tried anyway since they didn't call TO to discuss it. But with Watson out there it's really risky.
Game can't end on a defensive penalty.Running is risky too though bc with no timeouts, clemson loses if he doesn't make it
Yes, but don't you basically force Clemson to decide between a final goal line try from a yard out or playing it safe and going to OT?Game can't end on a defensive penalty.

Shoulda/Coulda/Woulda and all, but I think that Watson is an astute enough QB to see what was happening (and see the 4 or 5 flags that were out, see a clear path to the endzone and he would have waltzed in.Qb isn't going to look up and surmise that a defensive hold might be happening, and then tuck it and run. With 6 seconds on the clock, Watson was almost definitely told he needed to throw it. So risky to run there.
Yes, and Clemson surely would have kicked if they didn't score anyway. So in that sense given what happened it would have been a better option. But only given what happened.Yes, but don't you basically force Clemson to decide between a final goal line try from a yard out or playing it safe and going to OT?

I also think there were no TV timeouts. Every TD drive was filled with a review of the drive instead of the Dr. Pepper guy and Vince Wilfork in overalls.Amen. If anything, that's an understatement - that was about 100x better. They ran waaaaay more plays than an NFL game
Clemson still had one TO so running was definitely an option.Running is risky too though bc with no timeouts, clemson loses if he doesn't make it
