I too enjoy his insufferable certainty.Plus reading HRB's 110% certainty on all things basketball related is entertaining.
Barnes is better than Jackson. There is no empirical proof and you are only calling it that because it supports your opinion. As this is empirical proof that DeJesus is correct in his valuation of Barnes you’re swimming against the tide here.
It wouldn't be the strangest thing that we have read in this forum.I could come up with "proof" James Young is better than Michael Jordan.
I don't have strong thoughts on Jackson or Barnes really, but Barnes and Jackson do grade out roughly comparable in a variety on Plus/Minus type metrics, and their box score equivalents. This obviously doesn't account for fit, but it's at least plausible to me that this is a lateral move.Barnes is better than Jackson. I think it's a meh move for the Kings and awesome for Dallas when everything is considered. I don't see how the move will impact the Kings negatively in the mid or long term. I think I read on The Ringer it was Bismack, gilchrist & a protected 1st.Has there been chatter about who CHA would be sending to MEM in the Gasol trade?
Oof. Hard pass if I am MEMI think I read on The Ringer it was Bismack, gilchrist & a protected 1st.
A lottery protected 1st for Gasol sounds about right to me.Oof. Hard pass if I am MEM
Yes, but not taking on the additional year of dead money in BiyamboA lottery protected 1st for Gasol sounds about right to me.
I think at best they were getting a late first rounded (like Cleveland got for eating Brandon Knight's contract) and I don't think that's tangibly different than a year and a half of Harrison Barnes, especially since making the playoffs appears to be their primary goal. If there were better deals out there then yes I agree, but they've been trying to rent that cap space for assets all year and haven't found a deal that they liked. The acquisition cost was cap space; they lost their ability to be a team that took on cap space in exchange for functional assets. It was a good move for the Kings insofar as it stops them from doing something even sillier like maxing Tobias Harris in the offseason, but whether Barnes is an upgrade over Jackson or not, his contract is almost entirely dead money, and they didn't get anything back in exchange for taking it on.
Maybe I shouldn't tell you this but when I first read your post, I saw "Baynes," not "Barnes." You have us mesmerized.debate is healthy for a board
A playoff veteran like Barnes probably helps Sacramento as they make a push for the playoffs. A new scenario may motivate him to play harder on the defensive end. Dallas is at a different stage and adding JJ as a cheap bench piece is a great move along with getting some flexibility in the off-season. Win-win for both clubs.
I think this is the first time I've ever read a report where someone was traded and they didn't bother saying where to.Shams Charania
@ShamsCharania
Rockets traded James Ennis for swap rights to a 2021 second-round pick, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium.
This has been a really awesome deadline so far. 2 hours 15 minutes until the celebration...I think this is the first time I've ever read a report where someone was traded and they didn't bother saying where to.
A player traded to a TTBNL? This is a crazy deadline.I think this is the first time I've ever read a report where someone was traded and they didn't bother saying where to.
There’s really nothing we can do. Our assets need to be held til summer.Bucks really going for it. That’s a steal. Celts might need to do something as the teams around them are getting better & it was going to be tough enough to beat them before these moves.
Pass out in a good way? I could get behind that dealFake reddit got me. A new post said we traded Jaylen, Smart for Bradley Beal and I thought I was going to pass out
I ran a BRef Play index for shots JJ has taken in the 4Q. Rough proxy for sure but the theory is that if JJ is playing crunch time minutes in close games, he'll have a shot attempt to show it.PM forthcoming with game logs later this evening. I also value data over opinions.
And I thought the plan was great because Vlade is going to use Barnes expiring to trade for someone. Now you say he will extend Barnes? That's makes it even worse if its correct. Just when it seems that Sacramento was turning a corner too.
and NO is getting four 2nd round picksMirotic for Stanley Johnson and Jason Smith.
Yeah, I'd love that deal.Pass out in a good way? I could get behind that deal
Wouldn't have NOP been better off to get Thon Maker for Mirotic rather than Stanley Johnson?Mirotic for Stanley Johnson and Jason Smith.
Bledsoe is not a floor spacer at all. He is shooting 30% from three this year and is a career 32%. Mirotic is actually only at 36% for career (found this to be way lower than I expected)Ridiculous spacing now around Giannis with Bledsoe, Brogdon, Middleton, and now Mirotic.
There's still threats to make a 3 and the opposing defense will still have to cover them.Bledsoe is not a floor spacer at all. He is shooting 30% from three this year and is a career 32%. Mirotic is actually only at 36% for career (found this to be way lower than I expected)
Poor Stauskas. He's been on four teams since Saturday. He's the poor man's Luke Ridnour.Houston is trading Stauskas and Baldwin to Indiana per Woj
Really? I thought MIL already had big spacer with Lopez.Ridiculous spacing now around Giannis with Bledsoe, Brogdon, Middleton, and now Mirotic.
I think in the playoffs it's big to have another big man that is a floor spacer.Really? I thought MIL already had big spacer with Lopez.
Looking at this season's stats: Lopez is shooting .388 on 6.5 3PA/g; Mirotic shooting .368 on 7.2. Mirotic is better rebounder; Lopez is better shot blocker.
I guess MIL will mix and match but does this really move the needle?
You realize they can play Brook at the 5 and Mirotic at the 4, right? It's just going to be wide open lanes all day for Giannis. Milwaukee has the chance to be scary good after this deal. Eastern Conference playoffs are going to be wild.Really? I thought MIL already had big spacer with Lopez.
