Somehow we don't have a lineup thread yet, so here goes...

NY's thinking since getting Stanton has been that they wanted to split up the three RHH at 2/3/4 with Bird or possibly Didi, but I am starting to think it might be nice to leave them all together:

Against RHP:

Gardner (LF, L)
Judge (RF, R)
Stanton (DH, R)
Sanchez (C, R)
Bird (1B, L)
Hicks (CF, S)
Didi (SS, L)
And then 2B/3B which should be Torres/Andujar by June but could be Wade and/or Drury to start.

Against LHP:

Hicks (CF, S)
Judge (RF, R)
Stanton (LF, R)
Sanchez (C, R)
Andujar (DH, R)
Didi (SS, L)
Austin (1B, R)
Drury (3B, R)
2B (Torres eventually, Wade or maybe Torreyes for now?)

That is a crazy potential lineup against LHP, 8 RHH once Torres is up, also Clint Frazier could push in there at some point (Frazier to DH, Andujar to 3B).

If you wonder why Austin for Bird, maybe not a full platoon, but Austin does have a career 1.154 OPS against LHP, admittedly a SSS of 44 PAs but still. He is rarely healthy but when he is, he crushes lefties, as Chris Sale can attest to, from last August:

Neil Walker confuses things, adding an additional option:

Against RHP:

Gardner (LF, L)
Judge (RF, R)
Stanton (DH, R)
Sanchez (C, R)
Bird (1B, L)
Hicks (CF, S)
Didi (SS, L)
Walker (2B, S) (Torres eventually)
Andujar (3B, R)

bench: Drury, Wade, Romine, Ellsbury (maybe McKinney if Ellsbury isn't ready)

Against LHP:

Hicks (CF, S)
Judge (RF, R)
Stanton (LF, R)
Sanchez (C, R)
Andujar (DH, R)
Didi (SS, L)
Austin (1B, R)
Andujar (3B, R)
Drury (2B, R) (Torres eventually)

bench: Walker, Wade, Romine, Ellsbury (maybe McKinney if Ellsbury isn't ready)

No room on this version of the roster for Lind, Austin, Clint Frazier (still recovering from his concussion), Torres (needs some time in AAA), or Torreyes.

Could they farm out both Andujar and Torres?
I think it's a strong possibility, Torres is definitely going down and Andujar is probably behind Drury just because he was behind coming in (experience) and he's not making the team if he's not the starting 3B. I think this is still somewhat up in the air, and Andujar could help himself a lot by continuing to look very good both offensively and defensively the next two weeks.

If Andujar is sent down, then I think Tyler Austin makes the team (he could help against LHP and there are a lot of those in the AL East currently).

Just looking at box scores, is it just a slow start or does something look wrong with Sanchez?

Sanchez said a couple of days ago he is tinkering with his swing and isn't happy with where it is yet, but also I think he has been focusing on defense so much that maybe the offense is suffering. Anyway, just a week of games so far.

Washington
Someone named Shane Robinson has been called up and Jace Peterson DFAd. Per Sherman, the Yankees wanted to call Robinson up instead of McKinney earlier, but Robinson was sick or something. Anyway, he apparently hits lefties well so he is up for Sale and Price.

Over his last 38 games and 159 PA: .300/.377/.629 with 12 HR, 16bb/29k. BAbip of .300
Name that Yankee.

Aaron Hicks annoys me.

Coming into today, both BOS and NY had three outfielders each in the top 18 overall in OPS in the league, pretty crazy.
