Even though we have had to wait for him, I think we are going to be very pleased the Yankees drafted him.Brilliant start for Clarke Schmidt today in his second AA start, 6.2 2 0 0 0 9 on 92 pitches.
Yeah, also to keep down his innings, but yeah. He had his first relief appearance tonight behind a very strong start by Mike King, they had 16 Ks of Pawtucket between them:According to my espn fantasy app, Deivi will work out of the bullpen the rest of the season, potentially in preparation for a September call up.
Ford and Gittens get a boost as Ryan McBroom (leading the IL in OPS) was just traded to KC for international spending money and a PTBNL. McBroom was the player NY got in 2017 from Toronto in exchange for the much discussed mediocrity Rob Refsnyder.Chris Gittens, a power-hitting 25 year old 1B who was a 12th round pick in 2014, just got named the Eastern League MVP. He is leading the league in a bunch of categories including OPS (.889). Ryan McBroom at AAA and Gittens at AA are more reasons that Mike Ford's road to sticking with NY is extremely tough, although this week's hot streak did probably save his 40 man spot through the season at least.

Also interestingly they say in the chat (going on now) that they think the top 5 here will likely end up in their top 101 overall.BP put out their top 10 NY prospect list today, pretty odd list IMO. Most prospect analysis has dropped Abreu way down, he still has the talent but has not been able to harness it and time is getting shorter for him. Volpe is also too high IMO, the list in the previous post is much better.
- Deivi Garcia, RHP
- Jasson Dominguez, OF
- Albert Abreu, RHP
- Luis Medina, RHP
- Luis Gil, RHP
- Anthony Volpe, SS
- Estevan Florial, OF
- Ezequiel Duran, 2B
- Clarke Schmidt, RHP
- Kevin Alcantara, OF
I mean, he is 16 and yet to play in the US and almost no one has seen him yet, so I get it. That being said, he is first on my own list above.I don't know how anyone could not put Dominguez No. 1 in the system.
