It's hard to understand what the vision for the team is now. The Mets have been super volatile, but they seem like they're trying to achieve a clear objective.
To some degree though, they recognized they aren't winning anything this year, and they sold short term assets for longer term ones. That seems rational, doesn't it? They could have not paid down the contracts at all and gotten worse prospects, but what would that ultimately have done for them other than save money?
