The Patriots and Red Sox could avoid having to do these walk backs if they were just more careful with what they said leading into the off-seasons.
Love everything about his answer, encouraging to see Mayo (and I'm assuming the entire FO) views the current situation as a long rebuild and that they can be selective in their approach.
One was a throwaway comment made by a coach immediately after he was hired into his first head coaching position, and while roles in the rest of the organization were still being filled out, and while the free agent landscape was still being determined (many of the best players on offense remained with their current teams). The other was made by a long-tenured team CEO, basically proclaiming a strategy change for the coming (now ending) postseason.
