IIRC, Kraft & Co. spent a good deal of $ upgrading the avionics of at least one of the team planes to fly to China and bring back masks and other medical supplies during peak COVID.

Eastern airlines exists?
Isn't it a Delta regional operator, doing codeshares for some shorthaul flights? Like Republic Airways?

fake edit: nope, that's wrong. They (famously) stopped operating in 1991, but:

In 2018, the intellectual property rights to the Eastern Airlines brand were purchased and currently the airline using the brand flies out of Miami International Airport, mostly cargo, but there is one commercially scheduled passenger flight monthly between Miami and Santo Domingo using the last passenger Boeing 767-200 still in-service.[31]

Dynamic/Eastern hasn't been healthy for some time, nothing they're doing seems to be adequate to pay the bills and it wouldn't surprise me if their new CEO looked at whatever sweetheart deal Kraft had with them and decided 3 more years wasn't gonna happen.

FWIW, one of the comments at the bottom of the first story linked in this thread said the interiors of the jets were basically wrecked by off-season DOD and ICE charters with Eastern failing to repair or maintain them.

Just by the way, the best jets joke was the one @Brand Name ripped after Kraft bought the plane - “Now the Patriots own 54 jets.”

Very possible, but competent airlines deal with that sort of issue. On the other hand, Eastern seemed like it wanted to just ditch passenger service in favor of cargo under it's last CEO, sso maybe they cut back on that portion of the workforce so much they can't handle it anymore.

$10 million for two used Boeing 767s seems wild.
I know there's been this narrative that the Krafts have been cheap with their facilities and other spending but this story doesn't help.

10 mil is about the norm for a used 767. They depreciate in value fast. Companies don't want to take gain on them, so after 4-5 years they don't go for as much. How many people also have a need for a 767 and a pilot trained to fly one

We used one of them to fly to JRTC in July as a DoD charter. It was in good shape, hell better shape than my normal flights that I pay for on Alaska, American, Delta, etc. Hahaha

I haven’t heard this “narrative” at all. Is it a thing that actually exists, or have you been listening to too much talk radio?

Ok, fair. Did a quick Google search for what a brand new 747 goes for and it seems to be around $100 million. $5 mil each still seems wild for such a giant piece of technology though I see your point that there probably isn't much of a market for used 747s.

Well, the answer to you second question is unequivocally "yes", but I assume @Patriot_Reign is referring to the player survey from last winter: https://www.patspulpit.com/2023/3/1/23620925/patriots-poor-grades-nflpa-player-survey
^^ Yes, this. Got talked about on the radio shows ad nauseam last year after the survey came out. "See Mike! Kraft wants everyone to think he runs a model franchise but look at all the ways they cut corners!!"

Of course, the Krafts built the stadium with MUCH less financial assistance from governments than the likes of Pittsburgh and Las Vegas, but the players obviously don't give a crap about that.
