How ever will we recover?
Probably by going about our lives, would be my guess. How ever will we recover?
I choose to believe this is an embarrassment for the Chiefs -- who must have lost some luster if they're not hot enough to stay on MNF regardless of the opponentStill, you don't think it's an embarrassment that the NFL is flexing Patrick Mahomes off of primetime because the Patriots are one of the worst teams in the NFL? You can be cool guy internet person all you want. But it's still quite a fall from grace. Acknowledging it isn't something odd.
That's a nifty take. I like it.I choose to believe this is an embarrassment for the Chiefs -- who must have lost some luster if they're not hot enough to stay on MNF regardless of the opponent
This is a great thing. I hope this pisses of Robert and Jonathan Kraft to no end and forces some changes, just another log on the fire.Probably by going about our lives, would be my guess.

This fucking blows. My 13 year old daughter has been all over me to take her to that Pats/Chiefs game, because there's a chance Taylor Swift might be there. I told her that Tay Tay is on some foreign country tour right now, the game is going to suck, so there's no chance she'll be there. My daughter than said that's fine, she'll just go see Travis Kelce, which put me into a cross between blind, seething rage and complete sadness. My last argument was that it's a Monday night, and she can't be getting home at 2:00 a.m. from a football game. That's a nifty take. I like it.
Taylor Swift fatigue.
I think it's just a reflection of the fact that we're not a playoff team, which is not news.Probably by going about our lives, would be my guess.

The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes are being flexed off of Monday night because they are playing the Patriots. This is massive. And embarrassing.I think it's just a reflection of the fact that we're not a playoff team, which is not news.
The breathless reporting that it's the "first time ever" that a MNF game has been flexed is kind of silly, but obviously the headlines are working. This is the first year that Monday games have been eligible for flexing. Eagles at Seahawks is a much better game.
Nobody is saying they don't care. I, internet cool guy that I am, care about the team. But, Christ, have some perspective. Being flexed out of a single game in prime time during a down year isn't a fraction as depressing or "embarrassing" as never being able to watch a home game in the early 80s because of the TV blackout rules. Those teams stank out loud and there was no reason to think they would get any better because the players, coaching and ownership all sucked. The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes are being flexed off of Monday night because they are playing the Patriots. This board has had multiple celebration threads because of how great the Pats have been for two decades. And they were earned and glorious. But now that the Pats are the dregs of the NFL, I find it objectionable people are like, "Who cares loser?"
People care, that's the point with sports. The fact that it's a Monday is not relevant and doesn't matter. The fact that it's happening does.
As I said, I will happily go about my life. But I also didn't feel the need to snidely dismiss what is happening in 2023, just to be the above it all cool guy. I guess you like that role, so stick with it. I'm sure your "perspective" is satisfying.Nobody is saying they don't care. I, internet cool guy that I am, care about the team. At any rate, we should all be as sanguine about the state of this team as Jabril Peppers:

Not with a new coach we won't be!This reminds me we’re eligible for hard knocks now!
Especially since you have so much else to be ....Not for me to tell anyone else how they should feel -- if you feel embarrassed, I get it. I sure as hell don't.
I think it's kind of a done deal. There is already a pretty small list that is eligible each year, and I have little doubt that whatever handful of teams there are, the Patriots will be the one people are most interested in. I suppose if Belichick were to leave, it might be different. This reminds me we’re eligible for hard knocks now!
Might be on to something -- the cool people get embarrassed about their team being flexed because everything else is going swimmingly. Us normal nerds already have the embarrassment hard drive near full, so this does nothing extra.Especially since you have so much else to be ....
As noted by E5, if Belichick leaves, the Pats would not be eligible for Hard Knocks.I think it's kind of a done deal. Funny -- if Belichick is the coach everyone will want to see it, but if he isn't, nobody probably would anyway.T'wasn't me ... it was our friend rodderick
Please don't besmirch the beauty and wonder that is the Hallmark Channel.Networks are going to keep flexing out of this game until it’s on the Hallmark Channel at 4 am.
Maybe Lori Loughlin can QB this team to victory.Networks are going to keep flexing out of this game until it’s on the Hallmark Channel at 4 am.

Thank you for your honesty. It’s a breath of fresh air. Really. As I said, I will happily go about my life. And I don't give a rats ass about the early 80s. The late 1900s are irrelevant. Who cares about a blackout in 1981?
The team stinks, I hope it gets better soon. I'll still root. And I'll still be happy regardless of NFL results. But right now, this is the dregs. Acknowledging that isn't some crazy thing. At least I am honest.
Is it? Seahawks look on the downward trend. The Pats obviously suck but they could have played this up as another Mahomes/BB installment, and if KC went off, then the NFL had a chance to showcase their brightest star. MNF has largely been horrible for years so I'm in support of the flex arrangements, but this one is kind of blah.I think it's just a reflection of the fact that we're not a playoff team, which is not news.

Seattle is definitely trending downward but that game might be a big one for the team. It could matter for both teams, actually. Is it? Seahawks look on the downward trend. I was old enough to watch games with dad instead of demanding that he put on cartoons during Bledsoe's first year. I have fond memories of Ben Coates, Marion Butts, Vincent Brisby, Dave Meggett and Willie Clay. I remember a few games early on in my Pats-watching life where the local CBS affiliate would show the Bills or Jets instead of the Pats, and dad would call them and be absolutely irate. Parcells and Beldsoe brought credibility and watchability. Obviously I'm a spoiled Pats fan, but I just texted dad and said, "So, this is what it was like in The Before Times?" Thanks for this post.Let's party like it's 1991!
Bill leaves his dreary, big-city job to head to the small town where he grew up. While there, he finds the long snapper of his dreams, returns to Foxboro with his new beau, and wins his 7th Lombardi trophy.Networks are going to keep flexing out of this game until it’s on the Hallmark Channel at 4 am.
Those were there days. I was dating a girl who lived in Springfield and I would go out on a Sunday home game and get to watch it on channel 22.I was old enough to watch games with dad instead of demanding that he put on cartoons during Bledsoe's first year. Embarrassing to whom? Possibly to the players; but then again they might prefer to get their asses kicked in the obscurity of a Sunday afternoon game. The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes are being flexed off of Monday night because they are playing the Patriots. This is massive. And embarrassing.
To the New England Patriots franchise.Embarrassing to whom? Possibly to the players; but then again they might prefer to get their asses kicked in the obscurity of a Sunday afternoon game.
I take it you are betting on Iowa?MNF is going to miss the upset of the year.
This is good but you ommitted the down on her luck high school girlfriend with a heart of gold that puts him back on track. Our man is lonely!Bill leaves his dreary, big-city job to head to the small town where he grew up.
