Fantastic.

Stay healthy, and away from Brady's hand.

White as 3rd down back I presume.

Draft low or sign an UFA for ST. Ideally a power, SY, guy.

Love the signing. When he was healthy he was a great addition to the offense. Hope the $s are reasonable.

Really surprised he got little to no FA love with all the crazy RB signings.
The only 3 down back on the roster (albeit an injury prone one) right now so very glad to see him back.

I thought Burkhead looked fantastic when he was on the field -- not much of a dropoff from Lewis to him. Can run, catch and block (I think). I'm pleased with this and think an RB stable of White, Burkhead, Gillislee and a draft pick is plenty good enough.

I am assuming Belichick insisted on keeping him specifically to haunt Brady's dreams with his sharpened helmet.

Lewis' departure was a bummer but was (a) totally expected and (b) a blow that could be reduced if Burkhead was kept. The Pats' depth last year at RB was so great that it was arguably a mixed blessing. On the one hand, it allowed them to withstand injuries nicely. On the other, it prevented them all from getting enough touches to really establish themselves. I think Dion got that as the season went along. But the others were in and out, even when healthy. Having White, Burkhead and Gilislee might allow them all to be more effective. And yes, Gilislee may still go.

In any event, add me to the list of Pats fans who are in favor of this move.

Here
500k bonus per game seems like maybe one too many zeroes...

That aside, great deal. He should be here for all of it.

I believe it is the expected per game bonus. In year 1 it is 31,250 with 10 expected games played. and then all 16 going forward are expected so 500,000 total.

Edit: phrasing.

Per-Game Roster Bonus: $31,250.

In Year 1: $312,500 because only 10 games are likely to be earned LTBE.

In year 2: $500,000

In year 3: $500,000

I wonder if he is hurt this year if the LTBE part of the per-game bonuses go down in years 2 and 3 or if they stay the same. Does anyone know that?

The LTBE is just how it counts against the cap. He has the 500K bonus this year, only 312,500 counts immediately against the cap because he played ten games in 2017. If he plays all 16 in 2018, he'll get 500K and the other 187,500 not counted on the cap originally will go on as he earns it.

The bonus money won't go up or down in years 2 and 3, will always be 500K. The amount counting on the cap at the beginning of the league year will be 31,250 for each game he played in the previous year.
