Patriots: Report: Patriots reportedly retain CB Jonathan Jones:
This seems like a steal. I love it.More details than Volin. Seems like he definitely left money on the table.

Yeah. I really like this deal for the Pats.More details than Volin. Seems like he definitely left money on the table.

Pats are not "Jonesin'" for secondary help? Love this move, both for Jonathan and the team.
A number of people have said he took a significant discount because he wasn't interested in leaving New England. With a deal like that, I assumed he would run to free agency. The fact that he signed this so quickly means either we overvalue his skill, or the market for CBs isn't great.
I mean, the dude plays a premium position very well - not elite, but well - and got slot corner salary while playing the majority of his snaps on the outside.
I love it, but this is weird.
Maybe Jones is the free Safety and we still draft a cornerback. Seem like some real talent there in the draft. My sense is that this (re)signing along with Jack Jones presumably back, will move CB way down the draft priority list. I would now order that list:
- OT
- TE
- FS
- WR
- DT
- ILB
- Edge
- CB
There is absolutely space in the DB room for 1 or 2 high level assets (whether it’s draft capital or FA money) devoted to the group especially if you are like me and want Marcus getting more snaps on offense.Maybe Jones is the free Safety and we still draft a cornerback. Seem like some real talent there in the draft.
Seems like a given. So we are drafting Jaylon Jones, CB Texas AM.
