One of our intrepid reporters should check for the boot mark on his ass as he leaves NFL HQ.

Wasn't Blandino going to be the guy doing all replay reviews? Who's going to do that now?

I wonder if Blind Deanblando is going to replace the probably-not-league-approved Mike Pereira.

Given the solid working relationship between the CBS and the NFL, I'm not sure why they just didn't agree to a job-sharing situation.

Blandino -NFL head of refs/God of Replay and CBS's talking head on controversial calls

Nantz: Dean what do you think of that call?

Dean: I think he got both feet in, had control, catch is good, the call will be reversed by NY.

Nantz: Thanks Dean, great analysis as always. We'll await the official NFL review.

I can't answer for the league as a whole, but for games involving the Patriots, it will obviously be Roger Goodell himself.

He was awful as the 'public face' of officiating, and to the degree we can tell equally bad or worse at developing and overseeing on-field officiaiting. I think he'd have been pushed aside earlier in a more functional organization, but good to see the league finally get around to seeking an upgrade.

And yes, I share the concern we'll get a downgrade who is even more of a Commissioner toady instead. But getting rid of 'proven bad' is still good, I think.

On-Field Ref: After review, the call on the field stands, incomplete pass. 4th down.

deep inside Guido territory
Are there other movies approved for references here, or is The Godfather the only one?
I have an exclusive copy of Albert Breer's interview with Dean Blandino upon exit.

Dean Blandino: Well, when Mike Kensil was first starting out, he was signed to a personal services contract with this big-band leader. And as his career got better and better, he wanted to get out of it. But the band leader wouldn't let him. Now, Mike is my father's godson. So my father went to see this bandleader and offered him $10,000 to let Mike go, but the bandleader said no. So the next day, my father Roger went back, only this time with Troy Vincent. Within an hour, he had a signed release for a certified check of $1000.

Albert Breer: How did he do that?

Dean Blandino: My father Roger made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Albert Breer: What was that?

Dean Blandino: Troy held a gun to his head, and my father Roger assured him that either his brains or his signature would be on the contract....... Thats a true story.

Do you suppose Fox envisions them arguing on-screen about the calls That would kind of fit with the general Fox approach to their airwaves.

I smell a buddy comedy!

Mike is the savvy veteran, who's used to the way he's always done things. Dean is the young go-getter, eager to shake things up.
