A getaway day lineup straight from the 2023 Redsox playbook. I wonder if anyone (Poitras, McLaughlin, Mitchell) will force their way into tomorrow’s A-squad tilt?

Will be interesting to see what Poitras can do with bottom 6 line mates. And how Mitchell plays paired with Lindholm.

As much as I’d like to see Poitras break camp with the Bruins I expect they’ll give him a year to get stronger.

Anyway, hooray hockey, go B’s.

Monty said they were splitting the roster up for tonight and tomorrow based on the PP so that each of the NHL PP units got the bulk of the PP time. Poitras was out there with basically the Opening Night PP2- Lindholm, DeBrusk, Coyle, Geekie. Might be an indication Poitras has a shot at sticking.

Some terrible defensive lapses in the 2nd, Swayman with a softie, not much offensive pressure at all. Poitras definitely is visible, kid is forcing them to actually think. Lysell still looks weak on the puck unfortunately.

Yeah he has. If none of the young guys break camp, I can see a few guys, like Mitchell, Lohrei, Poitras, and Beecher that unless they regress over the year you can pencil them in next year, which would be huge.

I wasn't sure if I was the only one disappointed with Lysell, he doesn't seem to put in the effort or willing to do dirty work

You're definitely not the only one. He's nowhere near NHL ready IMO, and unfortunately looks like he did absolutely nothing to improve upon the issues that popped up last year. He's obviously really young, but if he's not willing to put in the work he's never going to be anything but an AHL tweener.

He reminds me a ton of Krejci.

Super mature style of play, slows the game down, unreal vision, great playmaking.
Good comp. I like how every time he possess the puck he always seems to make the right pass. Like a few minutes ago he got that puck in front of the net, and I fully expected him to shoot a "panic" shot, but he turned made a nifty little pass out high. I'd think he'd immediately be one of the best passers on the team, and I'm dreaming of him constantly finding Pasta as he drifts onto gaps.

ya ya ya preseason blah blah blah let me dream lol

So Poitras bumped Merkulov to the bench and gets a shot with Marchand. Fun!

Kuntar and Megna are clearly going to be cut. Slide Debrusk, Coyle and Boqvist back in to get to 13 Fs. Waive Brown and probably Greer (unless they decide to cut bait with Heinen).

Lohrei and Charlie Mac together as a pair is worth watching. Forbort and Shattenkirk? Could be dicey.

Not sure about Lohrei, (despite the goal) but Poitras appears to be playing a major league game.

This JVR penalty worries me in the bigger picture. Step-behind veterans with clutch-and-grab penalties.

Beecher has reach! Lohrei looks a little less ready for prime time, Poitras should stick at least through the first 9 games of the season.

ugly goals still count, whole sequence was a mess, but also what you want to see, Beecher's net drive assisted with that

He has to be. What a find! I also hope Beecher and Lohrei are up sometime this year. Like the kids!

I definitely want him on a line with Brad, especially after that Brad like spin move. I agree with putting him with Brad and Jake, he'll learn to play the right way

Not to take anything away from the goal but something tells me Kutznezov is going to give a slightly bigger effort in the regular season.

You just have to keep the kid, he's NHL ready. Everything about him screams top 6 center of the future.

Edit

9/15 at the dot against Washington's top centers as well

I’d keep Beecher as 4C between Lucic and Lauko.

Lohrei to Providence for me.
I would LOVE to see your proposed line. And Lohrei is undoubtedly going to Providence but who knows who will be traded at the deadline to open a space on D. :D

As much as the skills, he also seems to be in the right place alot in the D zone.
