Damn, that's a blow, to everyone. I feel terrible for his close friends and family, and it's a loss for this community as well as the one he had outside of SoSH. Rest in Peace, DRS, and know that the world will be a worse place without you.

Can't believe it. A generous and eternally positive-minded poster. Will miss him - not just his knowledge but his attitude. Him going to the Super Bowl after-party and drunkenly posting from it was a great moment, among many others.

I'm shocked and saddened to read this. Whenever there was an injury I would always keep checking to see if he weighed in on a possible diagnosis. I'm sure many of you did the same. I'll greatly miss his posts that were full of wit and wisdom. I can't imagine the pain his family and friends are going through.
What everyone else has said, and I especially appreciated how he would always mention his son first, and sounds like he took the boy to all the games that he himself attended.
Incredible to be so upset at the passing of a person you have never met in person, but only interacted with online. He was one of the good guys. I hope somehow his family and especially his son and wife work there way thru this. I also hope in some way form or fashion, someone/anyone here who does know the family, will let them know about this thread, as I think it might bring great joy and comfort to be able to see how many people were touched by a Man that many of us only knew from a sports board.

Wow. As someone said above, I gasped at the post as well and showed it to my wife, who knows how much time I spend on this board. DRS was the go to anytime there was a lower body injury, and always was good natured and generous with his considered opinions.

As others have said I was gutted to read this thread title, never thought a death would hit me as someone I'd only interacted with briefly on this board. But it has. He was an amazing poster who genuinely cared and helped anyone who asked. My deepest condolences to his family. Life sucks and takes the good ones far to soon.
I can probably count how many posts I have on the main board over two decades of being here on two hands. I've always enjoyed DRS's posts after being paged and hearing all these stories and comments makes me feel all kinds of emotions for his family and those that were able to meet him and his family in real life.

Heartbreaking news - especially reading more about him and his family. He always provided insightful medical info and funny comments on this board and was must "read" posts. Thinking of his family and everything they must be going through - just a terrible loss. Always puts life in perspective.

His wife is aware. He spoke very fondly of the people he interacted with here and with a number of us in the “real” world.
I’ve been thinking of Chris and his family a lot the past two days. There are a handful of our community members that I stop scrolling and read their posts every time I see their name. Chris was one of them.
From everyone who met Chris, or communicated with him, he sounds just as awesome as I would have assumed from his contributions here. A great man whose love and spirit will endure.

Crushing news. He was such an integral part of the conversations on this board with his ortho insight and stories about him and the family at the Sox games. Well respected and beloved by all. @DaveRoberts'Shoes will be sorely missed by so many.
There's nothing I can say to ease the pain of his family but I'm glad they know the impact he had on many of us here including myself. See my sig that I've had since like 2010. RIP DRS.
From what I’ve read about Chris these past few days, the way he represented himself here seems to be exactly who he was in life: whip smart, funny, humble and compassionate.

Goddammit. Reading Chris’ brief bio at the top of the diary broke my heart. A couple years younger than me … way, way too young. All my thoughts and secular prayers go out to Chris and his family and loved ones.
At the same time, diaries like this are one of the beautiful things about this community. Most of us don’t “know” each other, but we kinda do. And empathy, love, and compassion are never wasted.

Seeing this thread on the main board yesterday afternoon hit me like a brick, and I'm still shaken 24 hours later. Life is precious.
I didn't know him or even interact with him here, and yet I still *felt* like I knew him. He was the rare combination of tremendous intelligence and a down to earth persona, and the way he imparted his considerable knowledge here with humility and good cheer always stood out. His posts, not just on the main board but throughout SoSH, were invaluable. After reading the obituary I'm not surprised at just how talented and skilled he was at his profession. But, of much greater importance, he clearly was a fantastic, loving father and husband. My deepest condolences to Chris' family.

Like many others, I looked forward to seeing that avatar when I'd heard that someone was injured. I knew I could trust Chris to provide reliable information about any sort of injury, and to give it to us with humor and kindness. I'm so sorry to hear of his death. I've donated to the charity in his name. Every time I think of making a post to this board, I'll try to make sure that it might be one worthy for Chris to read.
My dad has been lurking on this forum many years before I started posting here, and DRS is one of the only posters I ever remember him mentioning by name, talking about how he was the best source for injury information out there.
Intelligent, kind & patient is a wonderful combination of attributes, & that was just the tip of the iceberg it seems.
