"Mother fucker......... this fucking sucks."

"oh god what a fucking joke"

"Oh well, looks like we are drafting a corner."

"Yeah I didn't expect that from Revis either...maybe he really just wanted to stick it to us."

I am still unable to process this. I was bunkered in waiting for the drawn out bidding war and prepared myself for the eventual loss of the war to a team with more cap room and less to lose.

But basically the exact opposite happened.

Wait, why would Revis only do a one year deal? That makes no sense.

Like I said, there has to be a no franchise clause. Has to. Otherwise, why would he do this?

"Pillow contract"?

If all goes well, Belichick could make him look like a god.

Over/under on Revis picks on Jets QB's @ 5.

Per game.
0 - the power of present day Revis is that he'll shut down a team's best receiver by having the team throw around him. Since the Jets, at least as currently constructed, don't have a WR of merit Revis will probably get ver y few throws his way

Pats have tons of cap room after this season with Hernandez off and some potential relief, Wilfork number way down, and Mankins cuttable. If he works out here as we all dream, they can pay him at a lower cap figure than the franchise number.

And then franchise him. Don't think Belichick wouldn't let him sit his age 30 ass on the bench for the season if he had to, either.

I never even let myself dream of this, I figured it'd be Cromartie, some random scrub, and a draft pick who would be surprisingly good before going down with an injury in the Divisional round....Revis?  I mean, Revis?  FUCKING REVIS?  This isn't Ochocinco, this is FUCKING REVIS.  He is STILL REVIS.  Not a fucking shadow of his former self, Revis!

It's our island.

I find it amazing how this year is essentially going to be our rebuild because of the Hernandez issue and some big contracts for guys a little past their prime, and we're still going to contend for the Super Bowl, and then should be able to reload next year and get most of our own FAs resigned.

Biggest local acquisition since KG? Kyle Arrington is going to be busy this season. Ice up that groin. I'll be doing the same after hearing about Revis.

Hey Peyton, WELCOME TO REVIS ISLAND!

I can't believe this is really happening.

Now get me some DL help and find a way to keep big Vince around.

Edelman just returned kick for TD and BB is telling Wes about Wally Pipp.

So, trading the draft pick for the right to pay him $16m a year is starting to look kind of silly now, huh?

Darrelle Revis, CB, New England Patriots

That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Revis is not happening, but Revis and Talib is really not happening.
soxfan121 said:
No one has suggested that. Read it again. SSF specifically says "don't resign Talib" and I said "take the $8M earmarked for Talib" (and give it to Revis).

And yeah, Revis isn't happening. But it's March and I'd thank you not take "day dreaming" so seriously.

Oh god, I just realized that Revis is going to be the Larry Fitzgerald of this offseason.

And there have been rumors about the Bucs being unsure if Mike Glennon is their QB of the future under Lovie Smith.  A 2nd or 3rd round pick spent on a QB from the Bucs this year would not be a surprise at all.

Mallet for Revis!!!!

Never, ever, ever gonna happen. But it's fun to think about!

Just read the Volin article. There are no rumors, Volin's just engaging in masterbatory football fantasies and then assinging a moral value to his trade concoctions. It sounds like some ofthe Fitzgerald wishcasting we had here earlier this year. GET THIS DONE BB OR FACE THE MUSIC.

It's never going to happen
Smiling Joe Hesketh said:
Come on. No one here should have any patience for a reporter inventing a trade in his head (there's zero indication that either team has investigated such a move) and then assigning a moral value to making such a deal and declaring it obvious that it needs to be done. The latter is particularly offensive to me, in part because Volin's kind of a dim bulb.

Did you read the article? There's nothing backing any of it up. There's no rumors, no quotes....nothing. Volin's engaging in fantasy football musings on the front page of the sports section.

As for Florio, he specifically says the "rumors in league circles" are that other teams would be more interested in trading for Revis than the Bucs would be in trading him. Vague as vague can be, and Florio's notorious for throwing shit against a wall to see what sticks. Lovie Smith has said he wants Revis there.

I just don't think there's anything to see here. The money really doesn't make any sense. Sorry to ruin the fap-fest, kids, but this isn't likely to happen. Be sure to rub it in my face if it does.
It's never going to happen! Trolololololololololol

Absolutely.

In my defense, he'd still be worth it at $16M and a draft pick. He's that fucking good. But not panicking is a large part of why Bill is going directly to Canton when he retires.

Pleasantly shocked at 1yr 12M.  I didn't think he would sign for anything less than 30M guaranteed.

I'm sure on D&C tomorrow they will be complaining that it is only a 1yr deal.
