Zowweeee!Wallach's Magic Store is still my favorite.
Fred comes across as a bitter asshole when he talks about most subjects, not just football.Fred really hates the pats, huh? I get it, he isn’t from around here and it has to be annoying to do a sports talk radio show during one of the most successful runs in sports history. That being the case, does he have to be such an asshole about it? I really like Fred for the most part but when he is talking football he comes across as a bitter ahole. He a sports radio host in Boston, not Cleveland. Get over it.
Maybe you can answer the call of the Patriots Super Fan lolI'm not a Patriots fan, but Fred is annoyingly all over the place with his Jets. Last week he was saying that the Jets would make the playoffs (until he lamely walked it back) and now he's acting like this performance was expected. If you're going to shit all over Baker for every bad game, the same goes for Sammy D.
Haha, I think that bit is going to be great radio for a few weeks. Fred may lose his mind.Maybe you can answer the call of the Patriots Super Fan lol
Side note, I meant to post this yesterday, I don't think I'll ever get tired of Fred's Ray Lewis impression. "I love my 4 pillas. One of them has superman on it"
His continued defense of Sammy D is laughable at this point, and I think he's continuing to do it just because of his stubborn hatred of Baker. But also just because he never likes to admit when he's wrong -- even in the slightest -- on some of his stronger "takes". See Tatum for example.I'm not a Patriots fan, but Fred is annoyingly all over the place with his Jets. That segment led to “You know that movie, Philadelphia?” which made me laugh as hard as I have in a while. Thus, it was glorious. That jokes segment might have been the most painful thing I've ever heard on this show, and this is from someone who remembers Stoner Smitty Rates The Snacks and Different Strokes 8-Ball
That was pretty funny but the jokes themselves were terribad. Fred's insistence that they were gold was funnier than the jokes themselvesThat segment led to “You know that movie, Philadelphia?” which made me laugh as hard as I have in a while. Thus, it was glorious.
I’m no Todd Phillips, but I’m pretty sure that was the point. That was pretty funny but the jokes themselves were terribad. Fred's insistence that they were gold was funnier than the jokes themselves
Oh man. Haven't heard it yet but this doesn't sound good. Sounds similar to what happened with opie and anthony and we see where that has gone...This morning there was some actual tension in the room. Something happened yesterday where Rich had to stay for a post-show meeting meeting with the higher ups and Fred said it had something to do with Fred. And Rich didn't call him to tell him what was up. Then, Rich goes to the Bruins game. It was some paid appearance from the TD Garden and he got (from either the Garden or the radio station) 10 tickets to the game. He asked 5 of the 7 people who work on the show (did not invite Fred or Dan). Fred went off that it was weird that he wasn't invited but really upset Rich didn't even tell him about the outing (The also went to Guy Fieri's new restaurant and posted on Instagram that they were all sorry they went without Fred...har har har)
Fred was legitimately upset and all Rich kept saying was that it is so "weird that you are so butthurt about this" and that it "wasn't a station thing, I only had ten tickets". "Not everyone on the show went". I call BS too. That is a shitty thing to do.
At some point Fred said something to the extent of...you don't care to tell me stuff that you do to make yourself look good in management's eyes, you are just a prick. He also said that he and Rich were radio partners, they've never been friends.
This did not seem at all like a work.
It was the opening segment. I listened from 6:00-6:18, I think.Whoa. I haven't tuned in a ton like I used to but that sounds bad.
If Fred said they were never really friends, that's bullshit and he probably said it out of anger. I'll never forget him first talking about Mary being diagnosed with cancer and how raw and emotional it was.
What hour did this go down? I'd like to listen if they put the podcasts up.
Fred is such a dick. He's spent the last month saying over and over again that he'd never make the effort to go out with people. See: Joe Murray party where he whined about not getting an invite, but also saying he never would've gone. Or last week when he said he wouldn't go out with Nick unless it was at his golf club. He says constantly that he hates going out into the city. This morning there was some actual tension in the room. And that included him literally saying "I don't want to go to any more Bruins games".Fred is such a dick. He's spent the last month saying over and over again that he'd never make the effort to go out with people. It's for good reason since he's got his family and shit, but don't complain about not getting invites when you say over and over again that you're never going to go out. The dude left a bruins game on his anniversary after half a period or some shit! He's acting like a baby and Rich shouldn't be blamed for actually doing nice stuff for the staff and getting the chance to know them.
I don't think so?At one point before a break Fred teased "and Jim Murray has a take on Alex Cora that he'll have for you after the headlines "
Has Fred (or Rich) ever teased a Wallach take in 10 yrs?
Their “Spygate 2” coverage has been insufferable. Fred has been a dreadful listen. Just saying over and over again that they are “dirty cheaters“, even trying to get Danny Ainge today to chime in and agree after asking him zero questions about basketball and deferring everything to Rich. Absolute brutal radio.I'm not a Patriots fan but seriously Fred, shut the fuck up about the cheater shit!
The Tatum stuff is getting far past tired as well.Their “Spygate 2” coverage has been insufferable. Fred has been a dreadful listen. I think Fred is making the point somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I agree that he's overdoing it. I totally agree on the interviews though. I think his awkward questions that lead to pregnant pauses are really funny when done occasionally, but it becomes predictable when it's every interview and really throws off the flow. He knows a ton about basketball (more than he lets on) and I enjoy when he takes those interviews seriously from time-to-time. Rich is great at the surface level, fanboy type questions that I would ask, but Fred is the one that makes the interviews great when he's engaged with one or two solid questions. The same goes for the Jaffe interviews, he really needs to handle the 'deeper' hockey questions.Their “Spygate 2” coverage has been insufferable. Fred has been a dreadful listen. That's the problem. He's ALL in on this "dirty cheaters" stuff and really got into it with Michael Hurley a few days ago. Rich is also feeding Fred's monster a little bit too by buying into a lot of the concerns surrounding it.Fred just isn't smart enough to do tongue-in-cheek when he actually buys into it.
I'm pretty stubborn in my hot takes with friends where I am take committed and won't retreat. DiceK was worth it, JD Drew was a good signing and Clay Buchholz COULD HAVE BEEN a top pitcher in baseball etc.The Tatum stuff is getting far past tired as well.
Am I the only one who felt like the Brookline hour today was just overkill?
The Fred Dirty Cheaters thing doesn’t bother me as its half serious. Rich has been absolutely brutal though with takez. He just talks in circles and keeps making points everyone already agrees with. That's the problem. He's ALL in on this "dirty cheaters" stuff and really got into it with Michael Hurley a few days ago. I'm sure this will all die down very soon once the Pats get their little "slap on the wrist" punishment, but for now it makes for a tough listen.
