Not to mention he kinda sucks.
Have mentioned this before, don't think he's a great fit for pure sports talk but he's entertaining on lots of other topics. Might be on the outlier but personally have such a limited appetite for 100% full time SPORTS ONLY talk. How many segments are we supposed to listen to about how Belicheck sucks without Brady?

He's referring to when Fred joked about getting divorced when they were talking to Lazar about getting engaged. I'm not sure why anyone would give a shit about that, that's been Fred for 15+ years.

Fred eating nothing but Hot Dogs, Chili Fries and Greek Salads only for 3 days was way more offensive than that joke.

The segment sucks now without Joe. Just scrap it since he's going full-time nights soon.
I have bad news for you about the fate of the Draftkings sponsored Bankroll Boys segment on T&R which promotes the Draftkings Over/under show on the Sports Hub.....

So basically a nothingburger.

I mean it’s a complete nothing. Fred told a joke (or two) that just didn’t land. Rich’s Pacific Express joke bombed even harder. Nothing at all to see here

That Ortiz interview made my morning. The Francona stories were great too. Absolutely worth finding and listening to later.

Caught most of the Ortiz interview on replay this morning. I stopped everything I was doing to focus on the interview once he said Bobby Valentine was a clown. ;)

When talking about Gorman retiring and joking with Wallach about the radio job Fred made mention their contract is up at the end of the year. Given the past year this could get interesting. Hopefully this is not the end.

That stuck out to me too. Fred said, "I'm not working without a contract!", so hopefully they'll be able to work something out. If T&R move on, I'll probably start listening to something else in the mornings.

If they are, in fact, out of contract, then Fred's agent is gonna earn his/her money, that's for sure.

The show completely sucked today without Rich. Fred has good/relevant/important guests in Breer and Callahan and instead it's all Fred war stories and complete overstepping of the interviews.

I know people don't like it when Rich is flying solo in the co-host chair, but it's 1000X better than Fred on his own. Good grief what a mess today...

The Shrek Hands thing with Callahan was super annoying

I didn't listen today, but I 1000x disagree. I'd much rather a healthy / with it Fred than Rich on their own. Rich is great, but he's not a #1 and it was cringeworthy often when he's the lead. Rich is an amazing talent and he's great and he's saved the show carrying Fred's water when he's been sick /out / drunk etc. but Fred's the ace of the staff.

They both need each other. I’m not sure who would fit well with Rich outside of Fred. The only person that comes to mind that would fit well outside of Rich for Fred would be Hardy.

Here it is. Guy just needs to get off of social media as he has no self control and always spontaneously reacts like this. Just continues to dig holes for himself.

Catching up with T&R after a vacation. 7/25 hour 2, talking about the NY Post and WFAN is exactly what I love about this show in the non-produced-bit, non-interview category. Fred was particularly on his game. Subtle jokes, solid points (“Farts are funny. They’re in Shakespeare.”), not too much dumb ego (but just enough). A detour into NY Post headlines. Wallach contributing humor! Tangentially about sports or, in turn, anything else. This was a great segment. It’s been a while since the show was clicking like that for me. Skipping to the Ortiz interview next.

Not just you. He was a raging asshole yesterday as well. Openly hostile to Rich on several occasions...
There was a brief period where it was literally just he and Rich alone yesterday after Roche had to leave, and oh boy was that awkward. The tension is clearly still up there.

How about Lifshatz insinuating that he has inside info that Lebron bets on his own games. I don’t understand how he is even on the radio.

Fred was busting his chops big time this week over Dan saying he’s friends with the heads of sports books in Vegas.

I think people need to stop reading into everything Fred so much for awhile. Lifshatz has been saying the LeBron stuff for 2+ years, Rich was being so dug in on stupid stuff and Fred called him out and Fred's openly saying he's biased for the Jets, as he always has.

The last few weeks of shows have been great, if you're reading into it too much it seems like you're looking for a problem. I agree, Fred's agent is going to earn their money on the next contract, but it's been pretty much normal T&R for the first time in 2 years, which is great.

SoSH needs to implement a "like" button function for posts like these.
Granted I think having an option to hit a like button curtails discussion since people just hit the button with posts they agree with rather then writing out a reply.

Though I guess we always have "+1"

I really didn’t realize Lifshatz has been talking about that Lebron stuff for as long as he has, my bad. He just annoys me when he only gives half-answers cause he’s talking out of his ass but acts like he’s a big Vegas insider.

It's funny because if Fred named people he hates, I'm likely one of them, since I'm a very frequent poster in this thread, but I think I'm pretty even on it. I was very active in the T&R Twitch during covid but I left because it was way too toxic. I always watch them on Twitch but haven't commented in probably 2 years (same handle I have here) I love T&R and that's why I post in the thread. It makes my morning and love the show, but at times Fred and or Rich are infuriating which is part of the charm. Fred called out a post here last weekend or so and even said "someone's got to go run on a message board and post about this" but he's aware he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore and Rich confirmed that.

I think what people are missing is this has always been Fred and Rich. Fred's different, but not that much different than he was 10+ years ago. I think people need to chill on every moment Fred fights with Rich and they take a break on it. Boston Media Watch etc. are posting every time it happens lately like, there it as again! I don't have any inside knowledge or anything and maybe things are awful but the on-air interactions are pretty much what they've always been. It was not this way a few months ago, but I don't see it now.

This program could end on 12/31 and I'd hate it and I could be 100% wrong but I don't believe it's the soap opera are making out to be.

Yep, agreed on most of these points. Fred's been a grump for 15 years, it's part of the show. He and Rich got into spats well before the recent blow-up, the nice thing about them is that they always just wipe it away between commercial breaks and will come back laughing at farts.

Leading up to, and after the NFL draft there was some hysterical radio. You had Lifshatz making several predictions on when people were going to get picked based on line movement ("player X used to have 10:1 odds to go 3. Now it's 2:1. OBVIOUSLY Vegas knows something here...") and then Breer came on a few segments later openly mocking him. "These NFL teams have their entire franchise l's future on these picks. They don't leak their real thoughts to Vegas. Vegas has no idea who they're going to pick" and just shitting on him.

Breer still mocks it. "It's like how some betting " experts" think they know the draft order...."

I'm not a bettor but aren't Vegas betting lines just adjusted by which sides the bets are coming in? For example professional gamblers see value in betting $10 to win $50 versus betting $100 to win $10 in a high odds bet and as the betting money comes in the line sort of corrects itself, presumably so the house is protected?
Granted likely could be entirely wrong on this, but thought the idea of old school line makers was mostly a thing of the past.

I think if Murray & Lifshatz were really skilled at gambling they wouldn't need side hustles and would have more of an online presence than they do. It's not unlike someone who says how easy it is to beat the stock market and they obviously don't have a pot to pee in.

Gambling is a hobby that they like to talk about on the radio, which is fine. They just don't have any particularly good insight or insider info.

This was my point a few months ago before Joe Murray got the FT gig. "If he was this good he wouldn't have a FT job, then do a weekend show, AND make a lot gambling"

BTW the people who actually make a FT income on just betting sports is miniscule. It's probably more productive to play scratch tickets full time.

I wonder if people are as worried about having to pay taxes on sports gambling as they were when it went legal. I'm sure 90%+ of normal sports gambling don't have a significant amount to claim at the end of the year.

I have had a ton of fun gambling on sports and football season should be a ton of fun and I'm up overall slightly, but it really is a crap shoot. I'm sure some are great at it but the margins are so thin on winning vs losing I can't imagine more than a handful of people are really good at it. It really does seem to having inside information and jumping on lines immediately is the only real way to make any money.

Keep in mind if you were getting full time as your source of income odds are they're doing it legally anyways. Won't take Uncle Sam to wonder how you afford a 6K a month apartment in the South End when you make $0.

You need to win at a 52.4% clip to be profitable. That's how small the margin is between someone just throwing money on the games, or "a sharp".
