Only thing that bothers me about the performance last night was how fucking awful their approach entering the zone on the PP was. They were dumping it in and winning the puck back on the forecheck all night, and decided on every PP to carry it in slowly over the line. Worked on the Marchand PPG obviously but led to some real stinker PPs, the worst being the one with 3:30 to go for too many men. Really frustrating, but the ice was truly awful as it always is after a C's game.

I gotta be honest- a whole bunch of you either have the emotional stability of a toddler, the outlook of an anhedonic donkey, or both. I know it's a game thread but holy shit is this place a disaster zone when things aren't perfect. Fucking miserable...I can't imagine going through life like that.

The best team in hockey dominated a game against a pretty darn good team, had their few mistakes go against them, lost to remain ahead in the series and everyone is clawing their eyes out and screaming for sacrifices while recalling horrors of yesteryear. This team could go 81-1 and the lot of you would be throwing toys out of the pram.

Bruins will be fine, they're not losing this series. And if they do, have at it with your misguided vitriol, I won't be around to read it because I'm not into group self-masochism

Tbh I thought they had a propensity for turnovers in their own zone all year despite the record. Numbers might not support that but it was my main concern going into this run.
It was definitely discussed in the "What's different?" thread earlier this season that their scheme calls for a bit more chaos in general and it has led to more turnovers and risky play than we've seen in the past.

I think in general that's fine, but the issue is that a bunch of these goals are not from schematic riskiness or anything like that, just straight up awful batshit decisions. So really I see it as kind of good news, it's not like suddenly some fundamental aspect of their game or scheme is being shut down in a blueprint kind of way.

If it's any consolation, home doesn't seem to matter all that much in the NHL playoffs.
Playing the Panthers in their building is like a home Bruins game anyway, a sea of black and gold, 35% or more Bruins fans? Sure sounds like it when they score a goal.

Pasta and Linus have been bad all series.

They’ve been horrible in their own zone all series.

This has not been an enjoyable start to the playoffs.
Umm, what? The Bruins don't win Game 1 without a great performance from Ullmark. He's +3.9 in goals saved above expected, 2nd in the playoffs behind Shesterkin. Last night was a bad game with a -2, but I think we know exactly what those two goals were. Ullmark isn't an issue.

My concern about Friday is that Bobrovsky will get hot. He's more than capable of that and he was actually really good last night. The Bruins had 47 shots last night and only got 3 of them past Bobrovsky. I can see him having a GAME on Friday and even if the Bruins play well, the Panthers take a 2-1 win or something, making this a 7-game series. I hope the B's unload on Friday, but I can see something like this happening.
I thought he played well, but not outstandingly so. I don't remember any real 10-bell saves from him. Many of the shots the Bruins put in on him were long-range wristers that he saw all the way.

If Linus had been horrible in the neutral or attacking zones, there’s be much bigger issues.

Being at the game and able to see the entire ice really drove this home for me. They’d come flying through the neutral zone and then just… stop at the blue line. So Florida started to line 3-4 guys up to meet the puck carrier and suddenly, turnover. Over and over.

Always thought the rules changed. Thete's no loser point in the playoffs, an OT loss is just a loss.
This makes sense given that in the playoffs you either win or lose -- there's no benefit whatsoever to an OT loss. I'll start the game thread tomorrow as I had a decent streak earlier this year, unless someone else would rather do it or beats me to it.
