Boston sending Sale and cash to Atlanta and Vaughn Grissom coming from Atlanta in return.

I don't know what to say other than WOW. I am sure others will quickly follow with
1) this is awful because . . .
2) this is great because (Brez is going after a couple of other pitchers to replace him?)

Grissom didn't hit very much in his time in the majors in 2023, but he has a career minor league slash line of .320/.407/.477. He's 6' 2", 220 and will turn 23 next week, so you'd think the power would develop some as he gets older. He looks a lot better than any internal second base option.

Taking a high upside swing on the final year of Sale’s deal makes sense for both teams.

Atlanta is in the position to go for it now, and Sale is helpful in that regard. Boston turned an expiring contract outside of their window of contention into a young, cost controlled player.

Good business from Breslow.

FWIW, Sale isn’t necessarily an expiring contract- the team held a $20M option for 2025 that theoretically, could be a fair deal.
